8/18/18 - SoCal Underclass Games - Five-foot-11, 175-pounds, large frame with defined strength throughout particularly in thick, strong lower half. Broad shoulders with strength down into the wrists. Marquez uses his strength at the plate where he controls the barrel while showing above average bat speed through the zone. Had a very loud round of BP where he consistently squared balls up into the gaps and showed some pull side power. Shows in-game two-strike adjustments along with excellent pitch recognition. Defensively Marquez shows a good understanding of angles in the outfield and the closing speed to get to balls. Plays long hops well. Bends at hips showing excellent body control when gathering balls out front. Arm has average to above-average present strength with accuracy. Is rhythmic in his outfield movements.
6/12/18 - 5-foot-11, 170-pounds, physical, muscular, athletic, build. Squared shoulders and strong upper half. Room to continue to fill out and add strength/mass. Marquez brings average-to-above average tools across the board to the table. Shows smooth footwork, soft hands and clean exchanges to go with a slightly above average arm from the outfield. Marquez is a bit raw at the plate but has present power to all field and projects nicely for over-the-fence power. When on time, the ball jumps off the bat with loud contact. He shows good balance from start to finish with his swing where he uses a slight leg lift and step trigger. There's present fast bat speed. Uses the knob to lead the barrel. Shows good feel for the barrel and stays in the hitting zone throughout his swing. Can get a little top hand heavy, but there's good rhythm to his approach.
4/28/18 - 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame that has strength throughout with a defined lower half. Marquez shows offensive tools that really project with his feel for the barrel, disciplined approach, fast hands, and strike zone awareness. Barreled up a fastball on the outer half that he shot into the right centerfield gap for a standup triple on which he was 4.47 with the turn. On another hit he was 4.34 home-to-first. Marquez is a current outfielder with good instincts and plays under control. In position when receiving the ready to throw the ball. Arm plays now, throws are online with some carry although there's room for further development.
