THE FIVE: South Bay 2021s
Medium frame, young body, present strength and physical projection. Operates from a slightly open setup, his leg glides and his hands are in ready hitting position. Flashes a gap-to- gap approach at the plate, uses the whole field and has a strong approach that is advanced for his age. He flashes some present power and has a loud bat. Has quick feet, medium stride and uses speed to his advantage on the base path. Has a strong arm, carries through the ball and mechanics are consistent. Covers good amount of ground and has enough range to play either corner outfield spots. Good fielder gets good reads off the bat and proper first step. Showed some good instincts that were ahead of his age. Porter was a key staple in a San Pedro lineup that went on to win the Marine League. Porter will be a player to keep an eye as he continues to develop and mature. Colleges will start to take notice.

IE Top Prospect Showcase - Medium frame, young body, present strength and physical projection. He clocked a laser timed 60-yard dash of 7.44 and a home-to-1st time of 4.66. He then went to the hitting portion where he recorded an exit velo of 77 MPH. He had two very strong round of batting practice, showing a more pull approach. Makes loud contact, strong approach for age and present power. Pepper the warning track a few times. He then went to the outfield and he recorded an outfield velo of 80 MPH.  He has a longer motion, strong arm and finishes throws. Shows athleticism with strong first step and gets behind the baseball. Will be a key contributor as a junior in San Pedro’s lineup.

5/17/19

2021 OF (Uncommitted)  has a medium frame, strong, athletic with physical projection. Operate from a slightly open setup, his leg glides and his hands are low in ready hitting position. Has a gap-to-gap approach at the plate, uses the whole field and a strong hitting approach that is advanced for his age. He flashes present power and has a loud bat. Has quick feet, medium stride and can steal a bag or two. Has a strong arm and carries threw the ball. Good reads off the bat and a proper first step. Covers a good amount of ground for a corner outfielder, enough range to play both either corner outfield spots. Porter didn’t record a hit Friday but hit the ball hard every time finished the day 0 for 3. Porter put a charge into three of his at-bats but the wind was blowing in and very hard so the ball died. Porter will be a staple in the Pedro lineup and teams need to start giving him looks.

3/06/19

2021 OF (Uncommitted), has a good sized frame, strong and young body, with physical projection.  Porter was one of my standout performers from this week going 1-for-3 with an intentional walk against Redondo. He showed a gap-to gap approach with a compact swing.  He grounded out he first two at-bats, but battled by fouling off several pitches in each. He was not overmatched by Thau who was touching 91MPH. On his third at-bat of the day he tied the game at 2-2 with a shot over the right-center wall.  He turned on a middle inside fastball and showed his present power. On his last at-bat of the day he was intentionally walked, a move that setup San Pedro to take the lead. The intentional walk in that situation was an indication of the respect as a hitter he’s earning around the South Bay.  In the outfield he showed good athleticism. He is a good runner, good first step out of the box. He is aggressive always looking for the extra base.
