2/20/19 - Hays has elevated himself on the mound to the point that pro scouts have taken notice and begin to consider him a draftable arm this summer. The southpaw was lights out in this outing working his running fastball to both sides of the plate at 84-86 and touching 88 several times. The arm action is loose and easy while his mechanics are simple and repeatable. The senior worked his fastball to all quadrants of the strike zone getting swing-and-miss results when he elevated it and getting easy ground ball outs when he worked it down. He finished with nine strikeouts on the afternoon, many of them on his sinking changeup that worked 80-81 and showed fading action to righties.
