From the right side, Andavolgyi has a line drive approach which he showcased in his BP round with loud line drives to all fields. Registered a 101 mph exit velocity. Has strong hands to go along with good present bat speed. Defensively, Andavolgyi was very skilled behind the plate. Presented a large frame, with short, quick defensive actions. Moved well laterally and kept the ball out in front of him. Showcased some framing skills as well, often beating the ball to the spot. Pop times ranged from 2.00-2.14.
1/5/19 - SoCal Preseason All-State Quick Hits - Andavolgyi is a freakishly athletic and strong catcher who remains uncommitted. Registered a 7.06 60 yard dash showing athleticism in his actions. Carried that hot start to the plate where his strength showed in his line drives to all fields registering a 101 mph exit velocity. Behind the plate he shows very good catch/throw skills popping in the 2.00 - 2.14 range with accuracy to the bag. Does a very good job of framing pitches without giving away location.
8/1/18 - Andavolgyi at 6-foot-1, 185-pounds is a strong, physical catcher with his strength distributed evenly throughout his body. Lower half has more room for growth. He blocks very well and is quick out of his crouch without wasted motion. Moves well behind the plate and shows soft hands when receiving. Frames well and goes down to get the low pitch without giving it away. His strong build helps him at the plate where he starts from a slightly open stance before using a toe tap trigger to initiate his swing. He shows pulls side power presently with a middle-middle approach. Shows excellent feel for the barrel which stays through the hitting zone well. Registered a 91 mph exit velocity off the tee.
6/1/18 - Andavolgyi from North Torrance High School stands 6-foot-1, 185-pounds with a frame that will improve with continued maturation and development. It's not soft, but it will easily add strength and mass. Andvaolgyi uses wide based setup with a left leg lift trigger allowing him to clear his broad chest to get and keep his bat on the optimal path. Behind the plate Andavolgyi is a quiet receiver with soft hands and athletic motions. Arm gets a little long on the throws, but there's present arm strength.
