Bay Area World Series 2020 (BAWS) - Uncommitted; Have seen multiple times in HS action, including outstanding performances in NCS playoff games, understands/trusts stuff, the raw velo was down in this look (could be lack of summer reps), but still showed pitchability w/full repertoire. Will look forward to seeing him at full strength in 2021.

at College Park HS - Uncommitted; The compact and stockily built left-hander is a talented and fairly accomplished pitcher but he struggled in this one (1IP, 3H, 4R, 2ER, 2BB, 2K), as he just didn’t have his best stuff. Had trouble finishing pitches and was constantly pulling off line with his delivery, which had to do with the timing of his hip turn. Machado showed flashes of why he has been an effective pitcher for the Patriots. He has a repeatable, effortless delivery but again, in this one the release point was inconsistent, likely due to the rough and extended inning. He showed some mental awareness by changing his pitch usage a few batters in, going from mostly fastballs to off-speed stuff, which he commanded far better than the fastball. He showcased a decent 4-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH, and SL). The FB is pretty straight but has good life through the zone He displayed a sharp, biting curve as well and was able to throw it for strikes. The CHG has downward fade and he was able to get a strikeout with it. While he didn’t have the best outing, Machado didn't implode and gave his team a chance to come back, which they ultimately did.

vs Freedom in NCS D1 playoff - Uncommitted; stocky stout build, high-3/4 slot, quick arm, clean controlled arm action, shallow backside, finishes pitches well, back hip gets through, body and approach resembled former White Sox LHP Wilson Alvarez, calm cool and composed all game, attacked all game with 81-84 mph fastball to both sides, attacked zone early with many first pitch strikes, occasional fastball cut, pitched off fastball well, efficient use of slider 75-76, smaller two plane break but late enough and tight enough to be very effective, pitched in vs right handed hitters real well, started this 1st round playoff game and went 6+, 2 H, 2 BB, 6 K, HBP. Poised to make big splash during the summer.

6/1/18-6/3/18 - BAWS 2018 - Thick stocky body type but arm works and he does maintain some athleticism despite build. Would like to see him a bit more trim because there is quality stuff. Simple delivery with hands staying at waist and medium knee lift. Mid-3/4 release point before finishing over stiff front leg. Loose quick arm, very projectable with more to come. Fastball 78-82 with arm side life at the plate. Slider 69-72 showing small sweep to glove side; times where he would get under pitch making it flat instead of staying on top and getting bite. Inconsistent control in outing and tendency to be up over the plate. Chance to keep improving body and athleticism and the arm works just fine. Keep an eye on him.
