Event: Future Games Tryout: NorCal Positional Profile:1B/LHP Physical: 6-5, 215-pounds; Long, lean frame with short, quick strides; 7.58 60-yard, 4.16 30-yard, 1.75 10-yard Offensively: LH. EV max – 98.1 mph, hand speed max – 25.1mph, bat speed max – 79.4 mph; Relaxed and completely upright setup. As the pitch is delivered, Duarte brings his hands to behind his ear and has a slight leg stride. Showcases impressive extension through the zone and easy juice. Defensively: INF – 74 mph; Enormous catch radius and solid range. Throwing from a lower slot allowed the ball to sail at times.
Delivery: Really sinks weight into the back leg. Stays closed initially then rotates athletically and finishes facing down the left field line. Creates a good amount of torque that makes his delivery effortless. While throwing from the stretch, Duarte utilizes a much more abbreviated slide step. Arm Action: Separates at around the chest then straightens his arm down and out, then through at a 3/4 slot. FB: T79.0 mph, 75.5 - 78.0 mph range, 1708 avg spin; Straight, downhill fastball that was commanded to both sides of the plate.. CB: 61.0 - 64.7 mph, 1935 avg spin; Loopy with 11-5 break. Left it up at times but was quite effective when Duarte stayed on top of it. CH: No numbers. Stayed relatively straight with a little armside fade.
