CCB World Series - Large, strong and full frame, Jones showed a bat that does a lot of damage over the weekend. At Friday’s Scout Day he peppered deep gaps showing his pop with some opposite field HR’s as well (87 EV) and continued that through the games picking up 5 hits including a double down the LF line. The swing is aggressive with bat speed creating a heavy barrel that whips through the zone with a slightly upward path. Defensively he showed strong developable skills behind the plate while also being able to play at the corners. His arm and transfer skills showed on Friday with best times behind the plate (1.87-1.93 Pop, 77 MPH). Jones showed he’s a true middle of the order threat.
5/15/19
CCS Playoffs D1 - Uncommitted. Showed the strength in his large wide frame. Bat is aggressive through the zone with some whip and the adjustability to go down and get a pitch. Solid job keeping his hands back and a quick trigger. Deep HR to CF on breaking ball down in zone; sowed good posture and ability to get under baseball. Athletic out of box with full effort runner. Showed quick release from fair arm strength during game, but snap throw off the runners helmet was a poor choice. Catching was fair with his blocking being the consistent feature. He was fed a hefty dose of breaking balls and continued to smother all game. He also called a strong game for Orkin.
7/17/18 NCTB Tourney - showed good hands and good barrel awareness, strong young man, there is some swing and miss but he's got a chance to drive the ball to the big parts of the yard.
6/1/18 - 6/3/18 @ BAWS 2018 - Thick and strong at 6-foot-1 200-pounds. High hands with high back elbow using high front leg for timing; quick bat with ability to stay behind ball and create leverage to pull side. Strong arm with ability to flick it across the field that should play well at 3rd base; average range and glove. Average speed with slower first couple steps; 4.6 Home-1st. More athletic than you might think at first glance.
