BAWS 2019 - Long and lean with budding strength in the frame, Bobo was one from the group I’d seen regularly during the Spring and the physique and tools continue to show promise. During BP showed solid bat speed from a tall, balanced set up showing strength in the barrel as he drove through contact into the pullside gap flashing some power that way (85 EV). On defense he moves well with good feet being able to take strong angle and make the play on the run; the compact arm has good hand speed keeping throws on a line to the bag from controlled actions (80 MPH). I think the arm has more in it as I saw him make big plays in the 6-hole during the season where he can let it loose. During the games he adjusted his approach and stayed to the middle of the field creating hard contact picking up two hits with a 3rd AB hitting a hard fly-out to CF. The frame projects more strength on an already impressive build that passes the eye test. This summer is a chance for Bobo to continue growth and playing well should raise his profile for the next level.

V Santa Cruz - Uncommitted. Bobo was a guy I’d seen a bit last season, but he’s made tremendous jumps from starting at SS as a Sophomore with noticeable strength gains in the body. It’s a medium frame that is firming up with length in the lower half and added athleticism; some projection still there in frame. At the plate he starts tall and balanced with hands resting the bat on the back shoulder and a flared back elbow. Bat raises as hands work down and back with good sink into his lower half showing controlled front side. Bat path works upward on plane with pitches showing strong tilt from shoulders and swing that can drive ball to both sides of the field with leverage in bat. Swing makes hard contact out in front of the plate with full extension through swing. Athletic out of the box with controlled gait; athleticism plays on both sides of his game. Showed ability to turn on pitches driving deep double to pull side, one-hopping RF fence; bat projects more power as he continues to strengthen with current extra base power now. Defensively showed a strong arm with quick release from compact actions at SS; type of arm that will stick on left side of the diamond. Moves through the ball well with good rhythm and controlled footwork understanding timing and flashes ability to play good hops. Still has some baseball knowledge that can be improved upon; pop up into shallow centerfield that he coasted back on allowing runner to tag up at 3rd and score. Has continued to make good progress and type of player that seems to have just started tapping into his potential.
