11/4/18: Medium frame with high waist and lean build in legs; frame has room to add strength as he matures. Balanced, slightly open stance with wider base as hands stay high with a high back elbow; rock load into back hip as back shoulder loads deep with hands moving towards back shoulder as well. Back elbow tucks to body with quick bat being on plane and finishing level through the zone; showed some barrel control driving liners into all parts of the OF with some deep gap drives as well. Average runner (4.56 on infield single) that looks quicker and more athletic once full speed; uses quick feet and agility to make plays on defense. Solid footwork at SS/2B able to work smoothly through the ball with timing and rhythm in plays; glove hand has times where it gets stabby at the ball but very minimal and can be corrected. Strong arm with ability to be compact and quick; able to make all plays from MIF including in six-hole. Also a pitcher, though I didn’t get to see him on the hill on this look. (Ozella)
7/16/18: 6-foot, 175 pound, medium, athletic wiry frame with some physical projection remaining. Similar body type to Nomar Garciaparra. Offensively, Dieter has a good approach and impressed with adjustments he made at the plate throughout the game. Quick hands to go along with good bat speed. Has the ability to hit hard line drives to all parts of the park. Battles every at-bat, fouled off numerous pitches to extend the at-bat. Defensively, Dieter showcases his best current tools. Quick twitch athlete with soft hands and quick feet. Plus arm with the range to stay at short. Makes exciting plays. Very polished defender for his age. Above average runner with good base running skills. Also a prospect on the mound, sits 86-89 mph and touched 91. Spins a tight curveball, flashes a change as well. Overall, Dieter is one of the most exciting players I’ve scouted this summer. Strong follow for the 2021 draft. (Joe Pera)
