at Acalanes - Vanderbilt commit; At 6-foot-5, 200-pounds, he's got a muscular, proportional body type with strength throughout. Dominating mound presence. Uses mound to create downward plane. Smooth, repeatable, simple delivery. Plants front foot just before hips turn, falls off some. Not much deception but ball jumps on hitters. Good 3-pitch mix, FB, CB, CHG. Fastball is fairly straight and gets on hitters quick with life through the zone. Really liked to use his CB but left it up quite often and hitters were fouled off many of them. Flashed the change-up but didn’t use much. Got into bases loaded, zero out jam in 2nd inning but limited the damage. Tended to leave pitches up in the zone with runners on and was out of the game after the 3rd inning, then played 1st base for the remainder of game.
8/10-8/12/18 Area Code Underclass Games - Extra Large frame showing wide sloped shoulders with strength in them; long arms with a high waist and projectable frame to continue to build upon and strengthen as he ages. Stands tall on the mound before a simple step/turn delivery allows his compact 3/4-arm to attack hitters from a wider angle. Average arm speed with deception in the delivery from a very high front knee and high front elbow that obscures the ball to the hitter; arm stays clean as it works back from his hands starting at his head. Strong back leg drive with ability to push long legs down the hill and make ball jump on the hitter. FB 85-87 with angle to his arm-side and cut off the plate glove-side. CHG 79-80 was below average and straight showing limited depth; looked like fastball but with slower speed and had ability to change timing. CB 68-72 from 11/5 actions with late drop from a loose spin; limited depth and inconsistent feel during first two innings; tighter shape in 2nd outing, but similar limited depth. CB has developable features and could make jumps as he gets better feel for the pitch. SLD 78-79 with short lateral bend in it; times where it flashed tilt, but acted with more cutter shape. Slightly below average command in first outing ending up getting hard when FB was left up in the zone. Three innings pitched with four hits and a walk while striking out one and giving up two runs during first outing.
