The athlete's maximum throwing velocity from an outfield position in the given event year. Measured in miles per hour (MPH).
84.0
Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
The reactive strength index measurement of an athlete's explosiveness by comparing their jump height to the ground contact time in between their jumps. On a scale of 0-5.
Vertical Jump
A measure of any athlete's body strength and reach calculated from the flight time divided by the contact time.
The maximum speed, in the direction of home plate, that the wrist is traveling. Measured in meters per second (m/s)
Arm Slot
Angle of the forearm relative to the ground between maximum external rotation (MER) and ball release (BR). Which can be a powerful player comparison metric, delivered in degrees.
Knee Extension Velo
The angular velocity of the front knee straightening after foot plant, which provides indicators of velocity potential. Measured in degrees per second.
Deception
The amount of time that the ball is visible to the hitter, after the instant of front foot strike. Measures in milliseconds.
Hip-Shoulder Separation
The difference in angle of between the hips and shoulders, occurring close to the foot plant. Measured in degrees.
Jase Evangelista, MLK (CA), 2023 Positional Profile: RHP, 6-2 195lbs. Medium frame. Athletic build. Strong lower half. Higher waisted. Delivery: Side steps into a chest high knee tuck. Smaller sit but present hinge. Shoulders work slightly behind the hips. Slight uphill with shoulders for a pulldown effect. More north/south plane of rotation. Larger stride (90% body height). Controlled and repeatable. Creates good lowerhalf/upperhalf separation into footsrike. Arm Action: RH. Clean/continuous AA. Hand lead out the glove then loads the scap with present horizontal abduction. Decent layback/external rotation. Above avg. armspeed. Works to a H ¾ slot.
FB: High % strikes. Above avg. spin. Flashed some high end IVB (23.6 inch max). Good extension allowed for some extra perceived velo. CB: Slurvy CB. 11/5 shape. Above avg. spin (2446 rpm max). Genderated swing/miss. Feel in zone (67% zone rate). CH: 1:15 tilt. Kills some spin. Small VB drop. Minimal fade. Lower location tendency. Developing secondary.
9/21/19
Uncommitted. Five-foot-11, 145-pounds. Large frame with long legs/arms, high waist, large feet and wiry strength throughout. Very projectable body. Evangelista was one of the top performers with his overall game particularly hit bat and his outfield play. At the plate he starts upright before rocking onto his back leg and driving through the ball. He’s short to the ball and long through it getting extended post contact. Favors the pullside but showed the ability to go the other way into the gaps. Uses the lower half very well in his swing and maintains his balance post contact. Defensively in the outfield he showed the best arm on the day with ropes to the third and the plate registering an 84 mph position velocity. He showed excellent footwork in attacking balls while playing through and using a quick, short crow hop through to release. On the mound Evangelista projects well with his loose, quick, clean arm action from a dip-and-drive delivery where he uses a strong backside drive to gain ground down the mound. From a high 3/4 arm slot, Evangelista shows feel for a three pitch mix with his fastball showing some run to the arm side. He was able to locate the pitch to all quadrants in the strike zone spotting it for would be strike calls. Curveball flashes sharp break with tight spin and 11/5 shape. He also shows feel for a changeup that is a bit behind the other two pitches presently.
