Wildcat backstop Alonzo Rubalcaba put on a strong showing defensively all weekend. With above average arm strength and strong throwing accuracy, he also stood out for his framing and blocking skills. The right handed hitter was also a force in the batter's box with a 6-for-13, five RBI performance from the six-spot in the lineup.
7/24/19: Another All- Star for the Great Plains, Rubalcaba was a standout from the beginning of the festivities in Waterloo. Defensively, he has advanced hands and receives well from a deep hip slot with his impressive mobility. The arm is a plus tool, also showing twitchy feet and actions to consistently be sub 1.95 on his throws to second. At the plate, he possesses a very simple stroke that’s quiet and controlled. There is some swing and miss in there, but stays in the zone with his pitch selection and takes walks when they are given. His ability to flat out defend makes him a high level prospect in the coming years. (DeGagne)
