Olaybal has a lot going for him as a 2023. Fast-moving, ran a 7.2 on a slow track, is quick twitch and has an excellent base to improve on. Elijah showed a consistent line-drive swing in BP, fast-twitch actions at the plate with a right bat path and a repeatable leg kick. Top of the order left-handed hitter. He threw it well from the outfield and average arm strength but was quick to release and accurate on all his throws. Another 2023 to keep tabs on as he continues to develop and grow.
On the hill, Olaybal immediately commanded a presence on the mound. He mixed speeds well with a sneaky fastball (76-78, Max 79), Change (67-69), and a CB with a good break (62-65). FB jumped a few clicks over the summer, leading us to believe there are plenty more improvements to watch soon.
