6’3 195-pound frame. Showed ability to work down in the zone with multiple pitches. Short arm action with short stride, allows him to stay on time. Fastball had late life, either running or cutting. Fastball sat 83-85, touching 86 multiple times. Big 12/6 breaking ball at 66-71, thrown with arm speed. Change has depth and deception at 74-76 MPH. Likes to work quickly, keeping fielders active with pace and attacking the zone. Quick to the plate to limit jumps on bases, but could slow down some to get lower half engaged more from the stretch. As he continues to get stronger, look for another velo jump soon.
6/5/18 - 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame. Has significantly cleaned up body since winter. Showed arm strength working 81-84 mph with his fastball. Mostly straight. Upright posture and abbreviated stride enable Moore to create downhill plane to the plate. Short, compact arm action is followed by bringing the ball close to the head during the high cocked position. Front foot and hip open as soon as lead leg deploys to the plate. Change up was more of a straight change with occasional cutting action at 72-73 mph. Curveball was thrown at 65-67 mph with some bite and 11/5 shape. Present size and arm strength of Moore is intriguing. If he can tap into his body to create and transfer more energy, velocity could jump significantly. Development of the secondary will be critical as well.
1/28/18 - Big, wide 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame. Arm moves much quicker than his body on the mound. Generates velo strictly with arm strength. Uses a short stride and high-front side to throw the ball on a downhill plane. Elbow gets very high in back. Fastball sat 80-82, touching 83 and was mostly straight with occasional run to the arm side. Mixed in two developing secondary pitches, a 66-68 mph curveball with 11-5 shape and a 68 mph changeup that we didn’t see much in live game action. If he can continue to improve his athleticism/flexibility and get his body moving faster, Moore could become an interesting follow on the mound.
