A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
The maximum speed, in the direction of home plate, that the wrist is traveling. Measured in meters per second (m/s)
Arm Slot
Angle of the forearm relative to the ground between maximum external rotation (MER) and ball release (BR). Which can be a powerful player comparison metric, delivered in degrees.
Knee Extension Velo
The angular velocity of the front knee straightening after foot plant, which provides indicators of velocity potential. Measured in degrees per second.
Deception
The amount of time that the ball is visible to the hitter, after the instant of front foot strike. Measures in milliseconds.
Hip-Shoulder Separation
The difference in angle of between the hips and shoulders, occurring close to the foot plant. Measured in degrees.
5-foot-11 155 pounds. Athletic build with clean and twitch actions. Explosive for size. With added strength we should see his already versatile skill set increase even more. (Running) 6.83 runner in the 60 yard. Moves very well. Technique improves over distance, cleaning up start can increase time even more. Potential 6.6 runner. (Offense) RH. Max EV 93. Max Dist 316. Simple and athletic set up in the box. Shoulder width base, slight bend in the knees, loose and relaxed grip in front of back shoulder. Up and down direct stride, tends to glide on occasion. Quiet and easy actions in the back with barrel control. Has some bat speed and good extension through the ball. High rate of GB/LD contact to the middle of the field. Plays well to his profile, great speed with a top half/whole field approach.
Pitching RH.
Delivery: Starts from the right side of the rubber and delivers from the right side. Great athlete on the mound. Repeatable mechanics, gets into his back leg with leg lift and travels down the mound. Good arm speed. Projects as a reliever with 3 pitch mix on the mound. Commanded the ball great with all pitches.
FB: 84 mph (2117). FB has some life and small amount of arm side movement. FB has more in the tank with added strength and maturity. Worked both sides of the plate, misses were small.
SL: 72 mph (2176). Potential out pitch. Sweeping break (-15.5 HM). Stayed glove side and down with all sliders on this day.
CH: 76 mph (1750) (19.2 HM). Threw CH with FB arm speed. Commanded well. Good horizontal movement to it.
6/16/20
5-foot-9 140-pounds, average balanced frame, has started to mature a bit, noticeably bigger than back in February. Hits from a squared base, using small knee turn left lift. Simple repeatable swing, showing some rhythm. Hands work down and back, creating a barrel tilt at times. Long swing with lower rotational acceleration, finishing low. Varying contact at 84mph exit velocity. Average footwork with ok glove, flipping glove before fielding. Quick loose arm action with 77mph arm strength. Also worked out on the mound, throwing with long arm action from an athletic repeatable delivery. Some lateral trunk tilt at front foot strike, falling off to the first base side at times. Threw mostly FB’s in live action working down in the zone, 77-79mph. Mixed in a CV at 65-66mph.
2/09/20
5-foot-8 130-pounds, young immature build, small balanced frame. Two-way player. Hits from squared average base, using a rock back load while picking up his front foot slightly. Starts with hands shoulder height, dropping hand in load. Pushes the ball to the right side of the field. Soft contact at 77mph exit velocity. Decent footwork with average quickness. Sure hands with some whipy arm action across the diamond at 80mph. On the mound, threw across his body with long ¾ arm action. Some looseness with average arm speed after breaking hands early. Regular effort with some rhythm. FB sat 73-76mph, thrown for strikes. Showed some feel for his offspeed. Threw a gradual sweeping BB with 10/4 shape. CH had some varying movement, down in the zone.
