5-foot-11 175-pounds, broad shoulders, balanced frame, some strength & athleticism. Sets up in an average squared base, using a leg kick trigger to create leverage. Open front knee through pick up, landing open. Showed some bat & hand speed with a tight turn. Mid/pull approach with some hard LD contact at 88mph exit velocity. Stop & go approach to fielding. Fields the ball with flat feet. Late glove flip, fielding the ball underneath the body. Short arm action, falling off the glove side. 80mph arm strength across the diamond.
6/12/19
5’10 155-pound frame. Starts slightly open, using a leg kick to get back square. Movement in hands, allow bat to get into good position and stay loose with rhythm. Hands get low on contact, taking some of the connection away from his lower half. Backspun balls through the middle of the field consistently with an exit velo of 85 MPH. Good use of one and to hands, making it easier to field certain hops. Could use momentum through the baseball more to increase arm strength from 80 MPH across the infield. 7.16 60
10/14/18 - 5-foot-10, 155-pound, lean athletic frame. Ran a 7.22 60-yard dash. Continues to work as a 2-way player, with more upside as a position player. Rocker type toe tap load. Aggressive with the swing. Shows good bat path and 78 mph exit velocity. As a defender, throws from a low 3/4 slot. Controlled lower half and tempo lead to 78 mph INF velocity, his highest to date. On the mound shows a calm delivery until release and then pulls violently with the head. FB sat 75-77 mph. Much more controlled with the secondary stuff leading to command. CB sat 66-67 and showed a CH at 68-70 mph.
6/6/18 - 5-foot-10, 155-pounds. Lean frame. Will add size and strength as he matures. Offensively Horwath presets weight onto back leg and uses a leg kick trigger. Lets the ball get deep. Arm bar action of the front arm. Hands and rear elbow stay very close to body throughout swing resulting in minimal extension. Athletic two-handed follow through and finish; 71 mph exit velocity. Defensively profiles as a corner infielder. Showed some range to both sides. Stays over the ball well. Could play through the ball more. Quick arm and able to throw from multiple arm slots; 76 mph infield velocity. Also posted a 7.16 60-yard dash. On the mound Horwath worked 74-76 mph with his fastball from a ¾ arm slot. Controlled tempo. Starts tall and uses the slope of the mound to generate momentum. Shoulders angled down into foot plant. Slightly open toe. Arm recoils after release. Curveball was thrown at 61-62 mph with 11/5 shape. Change up was thrown 62-64 mph.
1/28/18 - 5-foot-10, 145-pound frame. Athletic look with some broadness in shoulders. Two-way prospect currently projects best as a position player with natural athleticism and some quick twitch ability. Solid young athlete turned in 7.23 60-yard dash. Shows some natural bat speed. Hits with leg lift trigger and very little negative move with hands. Does not create much separation. Made hard line drive contact in live game action. Projects to hit even more with mechanical refinement. Tended to stop feet on the infield. Throws from very low slot; 74 mph infield velo. Could also project to the outfield. Sat 75-77 mph on the mound with a slight crossfire delivery and some arm speed. Also mixed in 66-67 mph breaking ball with a slight hump.
11/12/17 – 5-foot-10, 145-pound frame with athletic look. 7.28 in the 60-yard dash. Active setup with high leg-kick and lots of moving parts in swing. Starts with hands deep and creates very little separation. Has physical tools to hit with some refinement. Feet work well on defense, likes to drop down and throw from low angle; 78 mph infield velocity. Throws across body on mound from low ¾ slot creating some deception. Good angle on 74-75 mph fastball. Also threw 61-64 mph sweeping breaking ball and 66-67 mph changeup that he showed a tendency to get underneath at times.
