1/27/19 Uncommitted Uses leg kick well for timing, hanging in the air until its his time to move forward into the swing. Ball really jumps off his bat, put on an impressive show in BP. Creates easy bat speed getting up to 91 MPH for his exit velo without much effort. Arm strength was 78 MPH and pop time at 1.91-2.12. Gains a lot of ground to 2B, potentially adding some time to his pop time with his arm as strong at it is.

10/14/18 - 5-foot-7, 140-pound frame. Ellis may not be physically imposing, but he is consistently able to barrel the baseball and packs a significant punch. Clears lower half early, looking to lift and pull. Although his leg kick appears to have been toned down some, he uses it effectively to arrive to time and drive the ball with a slight uphill path. Future raw power grade will dictate whether pull power approach continues to be in his best interest. Ellis' likely college future is at 2B where he excels turning the double play (83 mph IF velo), but is a playable defender virtually anywhere on the diamond, including behind the plate. Ran 7.03 60-yard dash.

8/3/18 - Undersized, but absolutely hammered a triple to RF for the second day in a row. There's natural loft in his swing and Ellis has shocking pop for player his size. While he doesn't run an elite 60 time, Ellis plays the game fast and should be able to defend second effectively at the college level. He can also handle LF and was the starting catcher  at Mountain Ridge HS as a sophomore, but certainly profiles best in the middle infield at the next level.

6/5/18 - IF Ryan Ellis spent most of his time behind the plate during the high-school season, but profiles much better to 2B, with his 5-foot-6, 130-pound frame and 7.00 60-yard dash. Explosive first step and quick feet combine for impressive lateral movement. Compact, quick arm; 80 mph infield velocity. Offensively Ellis' does a great job keeping his barrel in the zone and shows an advanced, easy rhythm from the left side with the ability to make hard contact to all fields (86 mph exit velocity). Undersized prospect doesn’t play small and is a consistent producer against high-level competition.
