Cape Cod: After leading the Sun Devils in batting average (.357) and OBP (.433) as a true freshman, Campos took his abilities to the Cape where he continued to reach base at a high clip. At 5-foot-9, 175 pounds he lacks big pop, but controls the zone and showed to be a tough out with a simple, low maintenance-type. Behind the plate Campos presents well with the glove, but shows fringe arm strength and will need to improve upon his ability to shut down the opponent's running game after a tough spring where he threw out just seven in 43 attempts.

5-foot-9, 175-pounds, compact frame, defined body, above average athleticism for the position. Sub-7.0 runner as a catcher. Natural low center of gravity behind the plate gives him the ability to stay underneath the baseball. Quick & short footwork with above average arm strength. Left-handed hitter with short simple swing. Good speed with pop coming out of the smaller frame. Competitive approach to the game, plays with energy.

Ryan Campos played mostly in the outfield this spring at Red Mountain, but absolutely cemented his spot as one of the top 2021 grads in AZ with his performance at this event. Despite his diminutive 5-foot-7, 160-pound frame, there's nothing quiet about Campos' tools. He started off the day by turning in a 6.97 60-yard dash, 89 mph exit velocity and a 1.87 best pop time with 75 mph velocity from the crouch. Campos capped that off by taking one of the better rounds of BP, showing real bat speed and on-plane path from the left side. Play the game fast and may be the top 2021 player in AZ at this time, without the same physical projection as a couple of guys ranked above him.
2/28/18
The young freshman fits right in at the varsity level showing an advanced swing and approach from the left side. With a loose, easy rhythm and surprising pop, Campos is definitely one to follow in the 2021 class. Interested to see him behind the plate.
