5-foot-7 135-pounds, small balanced frame, young body, limited strength, athletic actions. Left-handed hitter. Sets up in an athletic squared stance, using a leg lift with hands working slightly back. Showed some feel & rhythm at the plate. Excellent on plane efficiency. Longer swing with slower hand & bat speed that should improve with strength. Showed some feel for the barrel with a middle line drive approach. 77 mph exit velocity off a tee. Hits some LD up the middle up to 86mph in live BP. Showed some athletic actions in the infield. Good pre-pitch movement. Went and got the baseball. Soft twitchy hands, playing through the baseball. Carry on throws with short arm. Showed some overall feel for position with a two-handed slow roller. Development should be followed.
6/12/19
5’5 120-pound frame. Starts with a square stance, loading into his back side, while tilting barrel up. Small stride keeps him square. Middle approach that sprayed balls to all fields. As he gets stronger, balls will start carrying into gaps. Exit velo was 77 MPH. Good first step quickness and quiet feet as he approaches the baseball. Two shuffle pattern to get in line with target and get momentum towards 1B. Arm strength was 72 MPH across the infield.
1/27/19 – Uncommitted. 5’4 120-pound frame. Wide stance with slow load back, while tilting barrel up. Strides to same stop as he starts. Good rhythm throughout swing and load. Will increase his 77 MPH exit velo, as he uses his lower half more to generate bat speed. Good job getting to left heel before fielding the baseball to allow momentum to continue to work through the ball. Quick release, helping the 72 MPH throws across the diamond on time. Good pace to infield play. As he gets stronger, all numbers will jump drastically.
10/14/18 - 5-foot-4, 110-pound frame. Left-handed hitting infielder. Carter has always impressed with his energy and skill level in a very small frame and has now started to mature physically. Carter improved his 60 time from over 8 seconds the last time we saw him to 7.44 and shows soft hands in the middle infield. A short arm action produces accurate throws across the diamond at 71mph.. Offensively, slightly closed approach with a toe tap load. Swing plane works slightly uphill, but gets into the strike zone in a hurry, allowing him to consistently find the barrel.
10/29/17 – 5-foot-1 100 pound frame. Very young body. Balanced setup with short stride and toe tap trigger. Shows excellent balance in swing. Exit velo will improve significantly as he adds strength. Defensively showed good footwork and soft hands. Made accurate throws from low ¾ slot. Displays advanced feel for game.
