Cape Cod: Had a fantastic freshman season at Arizona, batting .313 with 18 doubles and 10 home runs, but he struggled on the Cape, batting just .190 with far more strikeouts (26) than walks (6). There’s enough track record here, though, to chalk that up to a first-year player adjusting to wood and that level of pitching. He has good feel for the barrel in his lefthanded swing and strength that plays well for doubles in his home ballpark in Tucson. His offense is ahead of his defense, and though he played shortstop this summer after playing second base in the spring, he’ll have to prove moving forward that he’s ready to play short on an everyday basis.
10/14/18
5-foot-9, 155-pound frame. Showed off possibly the prettiest swing of the day, regardless of class. Extremely rhythmic and smooth left-handed swing with easy power. Can really hit and should be able to turn gap power into home run power with continued physical development. Gets in to a firm front side early in swing and hits against it. Ran 7.88 60-yard dash. Will be interesting to see how he develops physically and athletically, but he's already made big improvements defensively since we last saw him and profiles as a future 3B. Continues to display smooth actions and soft hands. Feet have improved. Arm strength (79 mph) and short arm action help White be an accurate thrower. Defensive future is uncertain, but White is one of the top bats in his class.
5/20/18
5-foot-8, 150-pound frame. White’s left-handed swing stands out immediately, showing a very advanced rhythm with the type of looseness in his wrists that could develop into an elite offensive player as he continues to develop. Tips barrel forward in load and slots elbow to get barrel on slight uphill plane, transferring nearly 100% of his weight into front side and making significant lateral move. Looking to lift and did so with authority and little effort; 81 mph exit velocity. Showed some softness in hands and threw accurately with carry on the infield; 79 mph infield velo. Slower release/transfer. Feet project best to corner infield (3B) currently. Posted 7.71 60-yard dash.
