6/27/18 - 5-foot-8, 170 pound frame. Offensively Davidson started with a wider base than we had seen previously. Shortened stride, hands work back some before deploying to the ball. Center of mass leaks forward at times. When synced up, shows the ability to produce line drive contact to all fields; 72 mph exit velocity. Defensively Davidson worked out behind the plate where his defense rates as his best tool. Pop times ranged from 1.99 - 2.07 seconds. Comfortable in low set up, gets out of the crouch well, quick transfer, loose whippy arm action; 72 mph catcher velocity. Also posted a 7.30 60-yard dash.
1/28/18 - Stocky 5-foot-8, 170-pound frame. Two-way prospect likely profiles best behind the plate due to his physical stature and defensive ability. Turned in best pop time of 2.0 with 73 mph velocity. Consistently made accurate throws on the bag, showing strong footwork and a quick transfer. Hits from tall, open setup with big stride and inconsistent use of his back side. Solid bat to ball ability with contact-oriented approach spraying balls from gap to gap; 80 mph exit velocity. On the mound Davidson worked mostly 80-83 mph, topping out at 85. Fastball tends to be flat as his head races forward quickly in his delivery, making it difficult for him to create plane. Also mixed in 65-68 mph curveball with tight rotation and 11-5 shape. Delivery creates a slight hump in the pitch at times. Also posted 7.34 60-yard dash.
12/27/17 - 5-foot-8, 170 pound frame. Davidson was easily the most advanced defensive catcher at the event, showing solid receiving ability with a low setup and quiet hands. Used a quick transfer and good footwork to turn in a best pop time of 2.01 with 74 mph velocity and on-line carry. Offensively, hits from tall, open setup, getting his foot down early and inconsistently incorporating his back side in the swing. Contact oriented approach produced 76 mph exit velocity. Also pitched, showing advanced feel for three-pitch mix with a compact delivery. Did show a tendency for his head to race forward ahead of his body at times. Fastball sat 80-81, topping out at 82, with a 63-66 mph curveball that he varied the shape on and a mostly straight 70-73 mph change.
