Cape Cod: Showed good athleticism and an ability to pick it at short, but struggled with the stick over his 104 plate appearances, slashing .211/.296/.284 while striking out in almost 30% of his appearances. His defensive efforts earned him an All-Star selection but he was unable to play after sustaining an injury against Wareham the day before the All-Star Game

Helped Team USA to a silver medal in the WBSC 18U World Cup as the starting second baseman. Played in all nine games (eight starts). Scored four runs, drove in three. Didn't commit an error in 25 chances on defense.

Showed quick hands on two hits, squaring up a single against 91 in his first at-bat and adding another hard single on a fastball away in his second at-bat.

2/18/18 - Oregon State commit. Gets better on offense every time wee see him. Combination of added strength and professional approach stand out in a big way at the high school level. Heady defender plays with a sense of control and calmness that you don't often see. May allow him to stay at shortstop, despite the physical tools projecting more to 3B at the high-DI level.

1/28/18 - Haas, an Oregon St. recruit, had some of, if not the, best hands at the event, and his overall approach and aura was advanced beyond his years. Standing 6-foot, 170-pounds with some strength in the lower-half of what is an all-around athletic frame, Haas was confident in every play that he made on the day. The type of player you want a ball hit to at any time during the game, Haas also produced accurate throws. He demonstrates the ability to play any infield position, and should give coaches multiple options moving forward. At the plate, the right-handed hitter features a compact stroke with a direct path. Setting up in an athletic stance he has a shorter stride with minor hands movement before working fast through the zone. He produced a strong, 91 mph exit velocity off the tee and worked line drives in his batting practice round. However, I was most impressed by his approach at the plate during the game. He confidently faced some impressive pitching, and always appeared to be in control along with having a plan. His skills play up in game, and he appears to be a player that you like the more and more you watch him compete.

12/27/17 - The Oregon State recruit has always been an advanced defender that lacked some physical strength. In our first look at him this winter the 5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect has completely transformed his body showing much improved strength and a thicker lower half. The strength gains were evident as he posted a 89 mph exit velocity, good for third best at the event. Haas hits from a wide, solid base with a short stride, loading his hands deep to create separation and nearly barring his lead arm. Almost all contact was made well out in front with his head moving forward at times, but producing plenty of hard contact to the pull side. Defensively Hass continues to be a natural mover, getting excellent bat reads, working through his target to make accurate throws from a low ¾ slot; 78 mph infield velo. Also turned in 7.21 60-yard dash.
