1/28/18 - Thin and wiry at 6-foot-1, 160-pounds with plenty of athleticism on a developing frame, Hernandez was fun to watch at PBR Arizona’s Preseason All-State event. The left-handed hitter smacked line drives from gap to gap throughout batting practice, and it carried over into the game where he continued to hit the ball hard each time up. A 6.81-runner with long, graceful strides, Hernandez has a wider stance at the plate, and rocks his weight and hands back into a crouch with a short stride. From there, his fast hands show strength while working the barrel flat through the zone with considerable lag. In the outfield, his natural movements looked the part, and he unleashed whippy, loose throws up to 92 mph that were not only accurate, but borderline pristine. While the arm strength did not entirely transfer over to the mound, he still worked 84-86 with his fastball with a clean delivery and arm action. He should be able to get some work in on the mound moving forward, but his future appears destined for the outfield and at the plate. Expect Hernandez to pop up on scouts radar this summer.

12/27/17 - Currently PBR’s 3rd rated player in Arizona and he showed why, posting the top testing numbers in every category in which he participated. We are looking at an elite-level college prospect and potential future pro with continued physical development and some refinement to his swing mechanics/approach. Hernandez has a very lean 6-foot, 161-pound frame with a narrow waist and very broad shoulders that should allow him to add plenty of strength moving forward. Posting a 6.81 60-yard dash on a slow track, he has previously shown himself to be at least a 55 runner in games, getting down the line on swings and drags at an impressive clip. Offensively Hernandez shows very loose wrists with some length in his swing. During his round of BP, he made lots of contact deep in the zone and could stand to hit the ball out front more often, allowing the raw power he possesses to show up more often. His 96 mph exit velocity with wood is off the charts for a 161-pound prospect. Hernandez moves effortlessly in the outfield and shows an average arm with solid carry, posting a 91 mph outfield velo.
10/19/17 - 4.21 home to first on a swing in game
10/13/17 - 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame. Very athletic, fast twitch body. Has looseness in wrists and showed the ability to drive the baseball with authority to all fields including with two strikes. Also showed ability to play small game with a drag bunt for an easy hit. At least an average runner, 4.48 on a very wide turn. Rangy CF got consistently good bat reads. Potential elite level prospect.
