5-foot-9 170-pound build, uncommitted at time of the event, recently committed to Gonzaga. Although his size might have scared some D1 programs away, he packs a bigger punch than what it looks like. Apodaca has a medium compact frame with above average strength & athleticism. There is some fast twitch in his actions. Left-handed hitter whose bat really stood-out at the event. Hit the hardest ball of the day on a triple to CF. Displayed a short compact swing with body control. Consistent hard contact with pull approach at 94mph. Used a small leg lift to shift weight, riding back leg shortly into foot strike. Short load in his hands with a level path to the baseball. Solid runner in the OF, Ran a 6.97 60-yard dash. Easy actions and some quickness in the OF combined with a solid arm at 85mph.
6/11/19
5’9 165-pound athletic frame. Starts wide with a square stance. No stride, using heel left as he loads into back side. Uses lower half well, along with side bend to make adjustments to pitches up and down. Compact swing, hitting line drives from gap to gap, occasionally showing pull side pop. Uses a pro step to make accurate throws with good carry.
1/27/19 Uncommitted 5’9 165-pound frame ran a 7.1 in his 60. The L/L sets up in the box with a balanced stance and not much movement in any part of his swing. No stride keeps things simple, although could add some to get lower half more involved. Swing is sequenced well, form the ground up. From the outfield used a pro step to get in line to make throws at 81 MPH.
