Vest is another catcher that doesn't stand out from a tools standpoint, but has consistently performed at the high school level and does a really solid job receiving. He posted a best pop time of 2.12 with 72 mph velocity, but has shown better in the past and should be a serviceable defender with advanced makeup. Vest has the type of swing that could really allow him to take off with added physical strength. Vest has the type of swing that could really work for him as he continues to add strength. With loose wrists and an easy rhythm, he’s looking to lift and pull and shows solid present pop for current level of physicality. Also posted 7.58 60-yard dash.
6/27/18 - 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame. Hit from an open stance from the right side. Very short stride, minimal weight transfer, could get more out of his lower half. Barrel gets on plane very early, some length in the swing, looking to get extended, maintains balance throughout swing; 86 mph exit velocity. Defensively worked out behind the plate posting a best pop time of 2.09 and a 75 mph catcher velocity. Did not come out of crouch prematurely, quick transfer, long stride to gain ground, quick arm action. Also ran an impressive 7.03 60-yard dash.
