6-foot-2, 225-pound sturdy frame. During batting practice, Smith displayed an exit velocity of 95 mph, showing his strength and power ability. Starts in a balanced stance with a smooth load, then uses a quick stride. Has quick bat speed, upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. In his round he found lots of barrels with loud contact. Pull side approach. In the infield, his position velocity was registered at 76 mph; has soft hands and consistent feet. Had consistent accuracy to the base with a high ¾ slot. Clocked a 60 time of 7.54 at the event. Love the power in the barrel of the recent Wallace (Hanceville) commit.
Very loud bat that had an impressive round of BP. Showed lots of pre swing movement and rhythm and showed big pull side juice with generating backspin off the bat from a tilted swing plane. The feet are set even and there is major violence in the swing. He was 96 mph exit velocity off the tee. Showed a very strong arm across the diamond and moved very well around the bag at 1B and consistently picked some throws from across the diamond in the dirt. Big time bat with major juice in the ‘21 class.
