6-foot-2, 155-pound lean frame. On the mound, Smith had good arm speed with a ¾ arm angle. Uses some effort in his delivery. Showed consistent balance point. Lands square. Produced a fastball that came in at 77-78 mph; shows running action and arm side control. Throws a sharp curveball (65-69) that has late action. His changeup (70-71) has fading action and around the zone command.
6/25/20
6-foot-2, 155-pound. Projectable on the mound, used a ¾ arm angle with a quick arm action while showing good arm speed. Has consistent balance point. Displayed a clean finish Threw his fastball 79-80 mph; had glove side control and running action. Throws a sharp curveball (68-71) that shows in the zone command.
Another young player that has a tall, lean build that will definitely add weight and strength to an already solid skill set. Tracked balls very well in OF drills and did a nice job of resetting his feet before the throw and used his weight through the throw very well. At the plate, he started with a slightly open stance and showed a very level swing plane. His hands and barrel stayed inside the ball which created a short, compact swing. His set up was solid and he did a nice job of hitting off of a firm front side.
