A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
6-foot-1, 175-pound solid frame. During batting practice, the right-handed hitters best exit velocity was 85 mph. Bat speed is efficient and displays uphill swing plane. Found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Line drive approach. Above average while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 79 mph. Had consistent accuracy. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.45. On the mound, threw his fastball 74-77 mph and topped out at 78 mph. Curveball (63-66 mph).
6/12/19
2023 grad that showed some big time tilt in the swing path. The approach was simple with a slight toe tap approach and he did a nice job keeping the barrel through the zone showing a pull side mentality. Move very well at 3B and showed well on the ball to his glove side with the DP feed. Showed a quick transfer and the arm strength will increase as he matures physically.
