6-foot, 205-pound mature physical frame. Offensively, begins in an open crouched stance with a compact load while using a small leg kick to generate some pop. Has above average bat speed, and a rotational swing plane with a high finish. Barreled up multiple balls throughout his BP round with a mostly pull side approach. The right-handed hitter showed an exit velocity of 93 mph as well. Behind the plate, he showed 72 mph on throws to the 2B bag with a clean exchange and rhythmic footwork, producing pop times of 2.12-2.21. Staggered setup with some flexibility. Used a consistent arm action and a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.45.
Sims starts with an open stance before coming back to square. Pretty quiet load that translates to a short swing with above average juice. During gameplay, Sims had a single over SS in one of his AB’s. Defensively, his best pop time was 2.27. He is still pretty raw, being a ‘22 grad, but there is some potential there.
