Offensively he showed some violence in the swing and a mostly pull side approach. The feet started slightly open with the hands set low which ultimately created some tilt in the bat path. The leg kick approach helps him generate pop off the barrel and the ball seemed to carry off the bat. Very consistent pop times in the low 2.0’s and accurate throws on the bag. The transfer was top shelf and he can get those pop times down in the future as the arm strength progresses. Did a nice job blocking and recovering from balls in the dirt. Athletic set up and showed well receiving pitches on both sides of the plate.
9/23/18
Did a solid job receiving pitches and extending the plate on both sides. A physical 2021 prospect, he should continue to evolve as he matures. Does show a pretty quick transfer and short arm slot throwing and his arm strength should increase as he continues to develop. Offensively, he starts open and has a high leg kick approach to get to the launch position. Really worked the opposite field during his BP round and stayed with that approach during the game.
Brooks Dobson (2021, C/1B, Edgewood Academy) 6’0 212 lbs- 7.10.18- ran the 60 in 8.17 while showcasing nice receiving and blocking skills behind the plate and a pop time in the range of 2.25-2.36 and a 66 mph C velocity. Short, compact approach at the plate that led to an inside out approach and the ability to work the back side of the field with an exit velocity of 79 mph.
