Western Wisconsin Summer ID: Quick Hits

On Tuesday, June 24th, the Prep Baseball Wisconsin staff traveled to Valley Sports Academy in Lake Hallie, Wisconsin to host the Western Wisconsin Summer ID. The event hosted around 30 players from across the state and allowed our staff to get a closer look at these players to kick off the summer circuit.

Today we take a look at some of the top performances from the event, and will later roll out our position-by-position scouting analysis stories.


POSITION PLAYERS

+ INF Elijah Tucker (Bangor, 2025) is an athletic 5-foot-9, 169-pound infielder with more room for physical development in his frame. At the plate, the right-hander showed some feel for the barrel, taking a short and direct path to and through the baseball, the baseball jumps off the bat and he drives it through both gaps. Defensively showed a pair of soft hands in the infield with some quickness and athletic actions, Tucker’s arm plays easy across the diamond with some quickness to his arm action with his hardest throw coming in at 82 mph.

+ INF Jack Halloran (Edgewood, 2025) is a strong 5-foot-5 171-pound left-handed hitting infielder. At the plate, from the left-side Halloran showed feel for the barrel with a short and compact swing. Defensively Halloran showed bounce in the infield and was quick when moving laterally, Halloran was accurate on his throws to first with a short and compact arm action.


TWO-WAYS

+ INF/RHP Alex Johnson (Eau Claire Memorial, 2027) is an underclassmen that impressed, 6-foot, 159-pound right/right two-way player. At the plate, the right-hander took a short and flat path through the baseball, consistently driving the ball on a line through the middle of the field. Defensively Johnson is a fluid mover in the infield with accurate throws across the infield with an arm up to 79 mph. On the mound Johnson works directionally towards the plate extending down the mound and working downhill. Three-pitch mix with a fastball that reached 79.1 mph with feel for the bottom of the zone. Johnson also showed a changeup that flashed heavy fading action, and a tight breaking slider, both pitches playing in the low-to-mid-60s.

+ UTL/LHP James Radabaugh (Eau Claire Memorial, 2027) is another underclassmen that impressed on Tuesday. The left/left 6-foot-1, 196-pound athlete took one of the more impressive rounds of BP on the day. At the plate Radabaugh would leverage the baseball out front and drive it in the air with authority reaching a max exit velocity of 92.3 mph across his round, averaging 86.4. Defensively from the outfield Radabaugh takes aggressive routes to the baseball and plays through it, his throws play with accuracy and carry with his hardest throw coming in at 77 mph from the outfield. At first base, Radabaugh showed feel for the bag and overall comfortability at the position with soft hands. On the mound, the left-hander ran his fastball up to 79 mph with carry and finish through the zone. Radabaugh showed two different offspeed pitches, the first was a heavy changeup that played in the low-60s, and a downer curveball that he could locate low in the zone.


PITCHERS

+ RHP Tavian Shramek (Blair-Taylor, 2025) was responsible for the loudest ‘pen of the day and is an uncommitted name-to-know in the state’s incoming senior class. Standing at a projectable 6-foot-1, 183-pounds the right-hander comes at you from a low-slot and feel for four pitches. Shramek ran his fastball up to 86.5 mph showing feel for the zone, the fastball played with heavy sinking action and armside run averaging 15.3 inches on the pitch. Shramek also showed a low-80s sinker that averaged 4 inches of IVB and 17.6 inches of run. His offspeed pitches were equally impressive, the first was a sweeping slider that played in the low-70s with 16.7 inches of sweep on average. Rounding off his arsenal, Shramek threw a heavy fading changeup that averaged 1.8 inches of IVB and 17.5 inches on run.

+ LHP Devin Nedland (Westby, 2025) is a projectable left-handed pitcher standing at a long-levered 5-foot-11, 157-pounds. On the mound, Nedland works online to home with a fluid arm action. Showing a three-pitch mix in this look, Nedland ran his fastball up to 83 mph with running action and flashing feel to locate around the zone. His changeup played in the low-70s with heavy fading action having the characteristics of being a putaway pitch in game. Rounding off his arsenal, Nedland threw an upper-60s curveball with tight 2/8 break that he showed some feel to locate in the zone.

+ RHP Michael Zunker (Ashland, 2025) is a strong 5-foot-7 right-hander that showed well on the mound. Zunker showed four-pitches in this look, a fastball that reached 85.1 mph that played with life out of the hand and finish through the zone. Throwing two breaking balls, an upper-60s curveball and a low-70s slider that played similarly in shape. Rounding off his arsenal, Zunker showed a mid-70s changeup that played with similar shape to the fastball.

+ RHP Brady Johnson (Eau Claire Memorial, 2025) is another right-hander that impressed on Tuesday. Johnson impressed our staff recently at a PBT event in Mauston where he tossed a complete game allowing two hits. On Tuesday, Johnson showed a three-pitch mix with a mid-80s fastball that reached 86.3 mph with life out of the hand and flashed feel to locate throughout the zone. Both of the offspeed pitches play with go-to pitch upside, the first is a upper-60s curveball that flashed sharp and tight breaking action with some feel to locate around the zone. The second is a mid-70s changeup that averages 3.9 inches of IVB and 16.8 inches of run.
