Slotting in as the No. 3 most-viewed profile of 2023 is 3B/RHP Cameron St. John (Altoona, 2025).
It doesn’t get much louder than St. John as the physical prospect, standing at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, posted some of the most eye-catching metrics during 2023. St. John kicked off his year when he attended the Green Bay Preseason ID and the Madison Preseason ID. At the events, the right-handed bat posted a max exit velocity of 105 mph, the highest recorded exit velocity out of all of our events in 2023. This off the charts metric was no fluke either as he also averaged 98.1 mph throughout his round and his furthest batted ball traveled an estimated 400 feet.
After quickly becoming a name-to-know during the winter circuit, St. John posted quality numbers for an Altoona squad who reached the D2 State Semi-Finals. In the spring he recorded a batting average of .306, 11 extra-base hits, three of those being home runs, and 21 RBIs as just a sophomore.
After multiple strong showings in 2023, St. John moved around in our Wisconsin Class of 2025 Rankings. Here is what we had to say regarding the powerful right-handed bat:
“...may boast some of the biggest power potential in not only the state but the entire Midwest. St. John stands out at first glance as he boasts a physical 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame, and despite his large stature he has managed to record a 7.12 in the 60-yard dash too, which is a noteworthy aspect to his game. In the right-handed box, St. John swings a fast and aggressive bat that produces some off the chart swing metrics and batted ball data. His max bat speed in our looks this winter was 86.3 mph and this helped him reach a max exit velocity of 105.0 mph."
3B Cameron St. John (@AltoonaRailsBa1, 2025) yet again took the loudest round of the day, this time at the #MadisonID.

St. John will look to build off his eye-opening sophomore year as we head into 2024 and as he is set to be a crucial piece of an Altoona roster that will have their eyes set on returning to the state tournament in the spring. Also, we have heard reports of St. John making some big strides on the mound, which if hold true would add a whole new aspect to already impressive prospect stock. After re-opening his recruitment back up recently, St. John is certainly one of the top uncommitted prospects in the state, and should be one to keep a close eye on as the new year rolls around.
Scouting Report
St. John made a loud statement throughout his round of BP, demonstrating some of the best raw power our scouting staff has seen in some time. His frame stands out immediately, boasting a physical 6-foot-4, 220-pound build, and he easily translates his present strength into the batter’s box. The right-handed hitter creates all sorts of power and jump off the barrel with quick hands and an uphill path, looking to lift the ball to his pull-side. St. John reached up to an astounding 105 mph for his max exit velocity, averaging 97.1 mph with a max distance of 400’. His BLAST metrics were also off the charts; averaging 27 mph for his hand-speed (T29.4 mph), 81.7 mph for his bat-speed (T86.3 mph) and 28.9 for his rotational acceleration (T31.9).
