Team Wisconsin Future Games: Game Recaps

DAY THREE: TEAM WISCONSIN VS TEAM KANSAS

The Prep Baseball Future Games came to a conclusion on Saturday night, as Team Wisconsin showcased their skill set in front of numerous college coaches and scouts one final time at the LakePoint Sports Complex.

Despite dropping the final game with a score of 10-0 against Team Kansas, there were multiple standouts throughout the action.

LHP Bron Schaefer (Kaukauna, 2026) stole the show and wound up being one of the biggest winners from the weekend. The left-hander went on to retire four batters in a row, tallying three strikeouts with the help of a true three-pitch arsenal. Schaefer threw for two innings and slammed the door on eight straight batters, emerging as an intriguing uncommitted lefty heading into the fall.

RHPs Ryan Rasmussen (Cedarburg, 2026) and Chance Ruby (Wilmot Union, 2026) each went on to throw quality innings for Team Wsiconsin to close out the game, each presenting mid-to-upper-80s FBs with quality BBs as secondaries.

As for the offense, OF Matthew O’Grady (Badger, 2026) put together quality at bats all weekend, and eventually got rewarded for it with a single. O’Grady is a strong defender in the outfield with range and an accurate arm, staying on the barrel in numerous looks.

It wrapped up a successful showing from the group from the Badger State in 2024, finishing with a 2-1 record with wins over Team Illinois and Team Missouri.

DAY TWO: TEAM WISCONSIN VS TEAM MISSOURI

On Friday, July 26, Team Wisconsin was back in action at LakePoint Sports Complex to take on Team Missouri in their second game of the weekend.

After only allowing two runs the day prior, the Team Wisconsin pitching staff continued to excel in their individual performances—limiting Team Missouri to just one run. RHP Vincent Bitter (Brookfield Central, 2026) got things started with a mid-to-upper-80s FB that got up to 89 mph—working around some command issues early on.

Bitter bounced back and escaped a couple of jams, letting up the lone run in this one, despite showing well.

The bats began to heat up shortly after, much of which due to the production of UTL Sam Abrahamson (Hudson, 2026), OF Matthew Hietpas (Appleton North, 2026) and MIF Chance Ruby (Wilmot Union, 2026).

All three produced numerous barrels throughout the morning, including a big double from Abrahamson to maintain the momentum for Team Wisconsin.

Hietpas enjoyed a strong two-inning outing on the mound during the middle portion of the game, sitting in the mid-80s with an effective BB to keep hitters off balance.

It was more of the same LHP Bryce Mischler (Kimberly, 2026) on the bump, as the dynamic left-hander worked efficiently and filled the strike zone with ease—striking out a pair of batters while working around one walk.

Mischler was a standout from the summer—emerging as an intriguing under-the-radar prospect that continues to shine as he develops into his long, lanky frame.

INF/RHP Calvin Moreau (Monona Grove, 2026) rounded out the list of talent that took over the morning slot of action, putting together a quality two-way showing to push Team Wisconsin past Team Missouri.

He first launched a triple to the right-center gap, getting on the barrel after a couple of near misses at the plate within his first couple of at bats.

Moreau then jumped on the mound and looked the part as one of the top pitchers in Wisconsin’s 2026 class. The right-hander struck out three batters and avoided a couple of walks to limit the damage. His velocity on the FB played in the mid-to-upper-80s, showcasing a mature feel for the BB.

Moreau and Team Wisconsin, after giving up a run in the first inning, went on to score nine unanswered runs to notch its second win in as many days. MIF Brayden Alivo (St. Thomas More, 2026) and INF Caleb Liggon (Madison Memorial, 2026) each tallied an extra base hit in the process—summarizing a successful day on the diamond for the Badger State.

In a similar fashion to the first game of the weekend, eight pitchers will take the mound for Team Wisconsin in Saturday’s matchup against Team Kansas. The game gets started at 12:30 PM at LakePoint 11 to conclude the gameplay portion of the Prep Baseball Future Games.

DAY ONE: TEAM WISCONSIN VS TEAM ILLINOIS

Team Wisconsin took on Team Illinois in Game One of the Future Games Team Wisconsin pushed a run across in the first and never surrendered the lead after.

The arms only gave up six hits across and one earned run. LHP Colton Semmelmann (Brookfield Central, 2026) got the start for Team Wisconsin, allowing a single hit and struck out one batter in his lone inning on the mound. The 6-foot-1 left-hander reached 90 mph throughout his outing, he showed a mid-70s slider that spun at 2600+ rpms.

Team Wisconsin would go on to toss six scoreless innings, starting with RHP Cameron Carter the 6-foot-4, 170-pound right-hander attacked the zone in his inning of work with two pitches sitting 86-88 mph with carry on his fastball, while confidently spinning a sharp curveball at 74-77.

A pair of lefties showed intrigue during their inning of work.

LHP Montgomery O’Brien (Wauwatosa East, 2026) standing at 6-foot-1, 177-pounds the athletic lefty topped out at 88 mph multiple times early in his outing while spinning a low-73s slider that looks to generate swings and misses.

LHP Bron Schaefer (Kaukauna, 2026) went four up, four down while flashing three-pitches, a mid-80s fastball an upper-70s changeup and a mid-70s curveball.

RHP Mason Schmidt (Somerset, 2026) is an imposing and athletic 6-foot-4 with a low-effort operation that tossed 1.1 clean innings, sitting in the upper-80s with his fastball while showing feel for a mid-70s slider.

Offensively, OF Ezra Liggon (Madison Memorial, 2026) started the game off singled on a ground ball through the infield, later scoring on a INF Winston Alonso single.

INF Chance Ruby (Wilmot Union, 2026) and UTL Sam Abrahamson (Hudson, 2026) were also standouts for Team Wisconsin at the plate. Ruby turned in a successful workout day and built off the momentum going the other way for a base hit in gameplay. Abrahamson was on the barrel throughout his at-bats and was responsible for driving in a run.
