Madison Summer ID: Quick Hits

On Tuesday, June 25th, the Prep Baseball Wisconsin staff traveled to The Rock in Franklin, Wisconsin to host the Madison Summer ID. The event hosted around 25 players from across the state and allowed our staff to get a closer look at these players to kick off the summer circuit.

Today we take a look at some of the top performances from the event, and will later roll out our position-by-position scouting analysis stories.


POSITION PLAYERS

+ OF Bennett Cagle (Edgewood, 2025) had one of the better performances at the event. Standing at 6-foot-3, 188-pound frame with room for additional muscle. At the plate, the right-handed hitter took one of the more impressive rounds of BP on the day. On the barrel throughout, driving the ball in the air with ease. A simple and under control swing with easy strength, averaging 85.9 mph off the bat with a max exit velocity of 93.9. Defensively Cagle profiles as a corner outfielder with arm strength up to 88 mph. Cagle attacks the ball with proper and efficient routes and gets the ball out fast.

+ OF Brayden Banyai (Madison Memorial, 2026) is an athletic 5-foot-8, 153-pound outfielder with room for growth. At the plate, the right-hander showed feel for the barrel throughout his round, spraying line drives throughout the field. Defensively in the outfield Banyai showed steady actions and the ability to get the ball out quickly. After impressing throughout the spring season, Banyai is a name-to-follow in the state’s ‘26 class.

+ One of the biggest winners of the day C/INF Jack Brenner (Fond Du Lac, 2026) impressed throughout Tuesday’s event. The athletic 5-foot-11, 161-pound catcher/infielder started off his day running the fastest recorded 60 of the day at 6.82. At the plate, the right-hander flashed feel for the barrel and the ability to drive the ball to all fields. Brenner also showed a knack for making hard contact averaging 88.6 mph off the bat with a peak exit velocity of 94.6. Defensively Brenner showed the ability to play both catcher and infield. Behind the plate, Brenner showed advanced catch-and-throw ability. Brenner showed confident hands with a quick release recording the top pop-times of the day at 1.93 on his quickest, along with a strong arm at 78 mph. In the infield Brenner showed athletic actions with sure hands and a quick trigger, his arm plays on the move and from multiple slots and reached up to 85 mph across the infield.

+ OF Joseph Meeter (Holmen, 2026) came away a big winner from Tuesday’s event. Meeter improved on his 7.41 60 time from the winter running a 7.09 on Tuesday. At the plate, the right-hander was able to drive the baseball through the middle of the field, averaging 86.9 mph off the bat with a peak exit velocity of 93.3. Meeter also showed impressive bat metrics with an average bat speed of 75.2 mph and a max of 78.3 mph. Defensively in the outfield Meeter attacks the baseball with proper routes and fields the baseball in stride with an accurate arm up to 83 mph.


PITCHERS

+ RHP Brock Frye (Omro, 2025) had one of the better showings on the mound at the event. The athletic 6-foot-1, 183-pound righty showed a long, loose arm that had armspeed out front from a ¾ slot. He worked with a simple, uptempo delivery; using a medium leg-kick into a coiled balance pont, with a slight drop/drive lower-half finish. Frye tossed the event’s hardest fastball at 83.1 mph with over 13” of arm-side run on average. His curveball had more lateral action with a 10/4 shape, landing to the glove-side for strikes. He then turned to a 74-77 mph changeup at armspeed, showing sink at the bottom of the zone. Frye rounded out his ‘pen with a 73-74 mph cutter that flashed out-pitch potential, playing with depth across the zone with a 10/4 shape.

+ LHP Ethan Stai (Fall River, 2026) gave an upside look on the mound. An athletic mover at a long-limbed 6-foot-2, 177-pound frame, Stai worked with loose and clean arm action from a high ¾ slot. His three-pitch mix was headlined by an upper-70’s fastball (T80) that played clean out of the hand with some occasional carry through the zone. He showed two different breaking balls; with his slider playing in-zone more at 71-72 mph with sharp 3/9 bite at times, making for a potential out-pitch moving forward.

+ An underclassmen to know from the event was OF/RHP Jackson Farina (Waukesha West, 2027). Presenting a high-waisted build at 6-foot, 174-pounds, he showed intrigue with his three-pitch mix. His fastball played clean out of the hand with 14.5” of arm-side run on average, thrown for strikes at 77-79 mph. Farina then showed a 62-63 mph curveball that played with gradual 11/5 action. He would round things out with a 63-64 mph slider that played with slurve action for strikes. At the plate, the right-hander impressed during BP taking a flat and direct path to the baseball with extension past contact. Defensively in the outfield, Farina took proper routes to the baseball and showed an accurate arm up to 81 mph.
