Unsigned Senior Spotlight: RHP Connor Hock
October 1, 2014
By Steve Nielsen
Scouting Supervisor – Wisconsin/Illinois
Unsigned senior right-handed pitcher, Connor Hock (Bay Port, 2015) has one of the highest ceilings in the state, his fastball has been reported up to 88 mph and looks the part of a typical front line pitcher. At 6-foot-3, 190-pounds he is currently ranked No. 28 in Wisconsin’s 2015 class. He impresses with his projectable, lanky, and athletic frame.
He finished his 2014 spring campaign with a 5-0 record and two saves while striking out 63 over 48.2 innings pitched and posted a minimal ERA of 0.72. In 2015 Hock will bolster a tough 1-2 punch at the top of Bay Port’s staff along with fellow senior LHP Dakota Klein (Texas A&M commit) as they look to make a return trip to Appleton.
Hock works from a tall and fall delivery, short, loose, high ¾ arm slot with regular effort and smooth rhythm keeping level shoulders throughout his delivery while landing slightly closed. His fastball sat 83-86 mph with running action for strikes at the Unsigned Senior Games in August. Showed solid feel for a 71-73 mph breaking ball with 11/5 shape and short, late biting action. Also flashed a 79 mph changeup with solid arm speed.
Hock was one of the top arms available at the Unsigned Senior Games, and has the frame to add more velocity in the upcoming years.
