Unsigned Senior Spotlight: INF Erik Nelson

Erik Nelson (Marquette University, 2014) is currently ranked No. 41 in the state of Wisconsin. We last saw Nelson at the Invite Only Top Prospect Showcase in June. Nelson showed a strong arm across the diamond at 82 mph and handles the bat well.
When it comes to college recruiting Nelson said he has seen interest from The University of Rhode Island, Black Hawk College, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, University of Minnesota-Duluth, Central Michigan University, Iowa Western Community College, Western Illinois University, Bradley University and Kansas State University.
Nelson already has visits set up for UW-Milwaukee early this fall as well as Rhode Island in October.
When it comes to narrowing his choices Nelson said he is looking for a school with good academics and a program that fits him and he can make a positive impact.
“In terms of location, I am not set on a specific location. An ideal location would be somewhere close to either Wisconsin or New York, where I have family,” Nelson said.
He’s currently playing fall ball in the Lakeside League with Hitters Baseball, and is preparing hard for his senior year at Marquette, “My goals for my senior season are to be a leader for our team, and a player who contributes at a level that helps make a run at the state title possible.”
