Unsigned Senior Showcase: Quick Hits

The Unsigned Senior Showcase took place on January 22nd at the Max in McCook, Illinois. The event was open to any uncommitted seniors in Illinois and Wisconsin. Today we start the event analysis with some of the top performers from the event.
There were a plethora of quality unsigned arms at the event. Below are a few worth noting in no particular order:
- RHP Todd Brown (East Aurora) has a solid three pitch feel and sat 85-86 mph with his fastball.
- RHP Kurt Dankovich (Providence Catholic) showed a jump in velocity topping out at 86 mph with his fastball. Slider had late breaking action at 65-69 mph.
- RHP Nathan Hefle (Germantown, WI) showed armstrength on the mound sitting 83-84 mph with his fastball and flashed the ability to spin a breaking ball at 72-74 mph.
- RHP Michael Lehner (Muskego, WI) has a solid two-pitch feel on the mound working 81-83 topping out at 84 mph with his fastball. Threw curveball aggressively with downer action at 74-76 mph.
- Nick Villasenor (Addison Trail) is a southpaw with feel for a four-pitch mix. He has a short, quick arm and a fastball that sat 81-82 mph.
- LHP Anthony Rogers (Montini) works from a tight side arm angle sitting 80-82 mph with his fastball.
- Big-Bodied right-handed pitcher Nick Brigham (Rockford Lutheran) showed off raw arm strength on the mound running his fastball up to 88 mph.
- 6-foot-4, 175-pound, projecatble right-handed pitcher Walker Brockhouse (Mount Vernon) showed a live arm sitting 84-87 mph with his fastball.
- 6-foot-8, 210-pound right-handed pitcher Kevin Davis (Lockport) sat 81-83 topping out at 85 mph and showed feel for his curveball at 67-69 mph.
Below are some of the notable position players in attendance (in no particular order):
- INF Juan Escamilla (Solorio) flashed a compact stroke, made a lot of hard contact and sprayed balls to all fields during his round of batting practice. On the infield he flashed steady hands and a quick transfer.
- INF Tate Wargo (Gillespie) ran a 6.87 60-yard dash and showed a line drive, all field approach in batting practice.
- Anthony Velazquez (Roberto Clemente) impressed behind the plate with a quick release and accurate arm. Pop times ranged from 2.01-2.10.
- 6-foot, 170-pound, athletically built Trey Romay (Downers Grove North) takes an aggressive swing at the plate with a gap-to-gap approach.
- INF Curt Kissel (Plainfield North) flashed advanced arm strength across the diamond; clocked at 90 mph and also registered a 90 mph exit velocity.
- INF Thomas Moran (Chicago Christian) is a physical right-handed hitter who registered the top exit velocity of the event, 100 mph. He also ran a 7.15 60.
- OF Robert Chayka (Solorio) ran an event best 6.78 60-yard dash and showed athletic actions in the outfield.
- Offensive minded infielder Jack Ginzkey (Naperville North) displayed a loose left-handed bat with easy bat speed.
- Angel Salinas (Lemont) has a smooth left-handed stroke and controls the barrel. Profiles as a second baseman with fluid actions on the infield.
- Infielder Blake Gosswein (Barrington) has a compact swing with present bat speed. Registered an 88 mph exit velocity, ran a 7.09 60 and was clocked at 82 mph across the diamond.
- 6-foot-4, 240-pound imposing first baseman Adam Hillis (Jacksonville) routinely squared up baseballs and flashed legitimate pull-side power in his round of batting practice. Defensively, has soft hands and moves well around the bag for his size.
