The Southern Wisconsin Open gave us our first look at the first 2017 commit in Wisconsin, Anthony Schlass (West Bend West) who has committed to Oklahoma. Schlass showed incredible bat speed and strength at the dish, standing 5-foot-11, 180-pounds he has a strong stocky frame which can compare similarly to one of the top 2016 prospects in Wisconsin and another strong left-handed hitter, Ben Rortvedt (Verona Area, Arkansas commit).

Along with Schlass, one of the more impressive bats at the event belongs to 2018 third baseman Alex Binelas (Oak Creek). Binelas posted the top exit velocity of the event at 98 mph off the tee.

Heartland CC commit, Nate Anderson (Mukwonago, 2015) put together a great day. Anderson was 89 from the outfield, posted a 95 mph exit velocity and sat 82-84 from the left side on the mound.

Pitching was led by 2016 grad Alec Marsh (Reagan College Prep), Marsh sat at 87 mph with exceptional control and touched 88 mph on his last pitch. He’s easy on the mound and it comes out of a clean high ¾ arm slot with plenty of upside. We’ve seen Marsh gradually make strides since March of this year, and it looks like he could be one of the top available prospects in Wisconsin’s 2016 class.
