Southern Wisconsin Open: Catcher Analysis
November 4, 2019
On Oct. 19, the PBR Wisconsin team hosted its annual fall showcase, the Southern Wisconsin Open, at STiKS Academy where 60 high school-level prospects participated in the final Wisconsin showcase of 2019.
Immediately following the showcase, we posted some rapid analysis inside our Quick Hits post and then dissected all of our measured data in our Statistical Analysis.
Today, we’re beginning to roll out our position-by-position analysis, starting with the day’s catchers. Of this group, there’s a couple notable stand-outs, including sophomore Heath Venne (Muskego). Physically, Venne has an advanced physical frame and he uses his strength well from the right-handed box, all while showing promise defensively.
Uncommitted junior Charlie Bogue (Mount Horeb) has impressed our staff a few times already in 2019 and he kept up that momentum last month. He swings a fast, loose right-handed bat with gap-to-gap contact, complete with all of the necessary actions from behind the plate.
For reports on each of the catchers who made it out to our final showcase of the year, continue reading on below.
