Recapping Wisconsin at the Super 60

This year’s Super 60 saw four Wisconsin prospects, OF Jeren Kendall (Holmen), 3B/RHP Scott Schreiber (Kimberly), OF Connor Rolain (Appleton North) and C Colin Butkiewicz (Greendale). All four performed well in front of more than 85 pro scouts and agents.
Jeren Kendall was the highest profile prospect from the state coming into the event and showed what he does best. Kendall ran a 6.66 and at the plate used his well-balanced swing to spray line drives to the opposite field. Kendall’s swing is dominated by his hands and they work well, it leaves the question to how much more can he produce getting his lower half involved.
Two-way talent Scott Schreiber was possibly one of the bigger surprises of the day. Schreiber showed excellent raw athleticism in the field with a strong arm (85 mph across the diamond) that is intriguing to pro scouts. At 6-foot-3, 215-pounds, Schreiber also ran a 6.78 in the 60. His frame is highly physical and projectable and showed that he has some juice in his bat as well (97 mph exit velocity from the tee). Schreiber also showed well on the mound touching 90 mph with his fastball coupled with an excellent changeup.
We spotlighted catcher Colin Butkiewicz earlier in the week highlighting his arm strength from the crouch. Butkiewicz is an interesting prospect at the pro level, with that kind of arm strength there are many possibilities for the switch hitting Butkiewicz.
Connor Rolain showed improved tools running a 6.77 60 and posting an 86 mph arm from the outfield. Rolain looked even more physical than he has in the past at 6-foot, 200-pounds. Rolain makes strong contact (92 mph exit velocity) when he squares the baseball up and has above average power. His presence with the bat is something that could make an immediate impact at UIC.
