Preseason Power 25: No. 15 Jefferson
March 8, 2017
The Wisconsin high school season kicks off on March 28, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on March 20, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.
Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.
We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. If you don’t see your team’s season preview make sure your head coach fills out his Preseason Questionnaire.

X- Factor
Junior utility player Ian Drays can play all over the diamond for the Eagles. A catcher by trade Drays can also play first and will serve as the closer for Jefferson again in 2017. Last year Drays went 1-1 with four saves while posting a .97 ERA. At the plate Drays hit .500 and was named first team all-conference. He is committed to Northern Illinois.
Stat Rat
5: The number of consecutive Rock Valley North titles the Eagles have won. Last year the team went 14-2 in conference play and won the title by two games over Whitewater. With a lot coming back this year and supplemented by a JV team that went 17-5 look for Jefferson to again be the Rock Valley North Champions.
Outlook
Jefferson will be one of the top teams in Division 2 in 2017. Senior starter Cam Anfang went 8-1 with a 1.12 ERA last season and looks to build on it in 2017. The Eagles return most of its starters from a 21-7 team that has four hitters hit over .300 with Ian Drays leading the way at .500. Senior Hunter Milbrath hit .390 as a junior and was a first team all-conference selection a year ago. The JV team posted a 17-5 record so look for some varsity newcomers to step in from a solid JV team. Jefferson has the talent and experience to make a deep run in the playoffs in 2017.
