The Preseason I.D. Showcase at McHenry is in the books and over the next several days we will be rolling out positional analysis on the event, today we continue with outfielders. Here's a look at our top outfield prospect on the day, complete with scouting reports and stats.

Top Prospects

1. Jason Cast, OF/RHP, Lake Forest, 2017
5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP with a strong, athletic frame. In the outfield has a loose, quick arm action from a high ¾ arm angle Plays thru the ball with a quick, clean exchange. Throws showed carry at 88 mph. Offensively hits from a balanced open stance with a long stride. Gap to gap hitter with an uphill path and a fast bat. Showed strength thru contact with 87 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.02. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a closed landing and easy effort. Fastball showed sinking action at 83-84 topping out at 86 mph. Curveball showed 11-5 shape with short breaking action at 69-71 mph. Changeup sat 73-75 mph.

2. Bryant Diel, OF, South Elgin, 2017
6-foot, 186-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with a strong frame. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top arm slot, 82 mph from the outfield. Aggressive routes playing thru the baseball with quick footwork. Offensively hits from a wide base with a slightly open stance. Short stride back to even. Gap to gap hitter with a short path, repeats well. Showed strength thru contact at 86 mph from a tee. Home to first at 4.36.

3. Benjamin Levicki, OF, Cary Grove, 2017
5-foot-11, 180-pound left-handed hitting outfielder with a strong frame. Offensively hits from a wide base with a balanced setup. Short heel lift stride with good balance. Line drive hitter with fluid rhythm and a fast bat. Showed strength thru contact with 87 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.39. Defensively hits a short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Accurate throws with carry at 85 mph form the outfield. Plays thru the ball with fluid footwork and a quick, clean exchange.

4. Kyle Hetherington, OF/LHP, Crystal Lake South, 2019
5-foot-7, 135-pound, left-handed hitting two-way player. Defensively has a long, loose arm action from a ¾ arm slot. Athletic actions playing thru the ball with quick, fluid footwork and soft hands. Threw 84 mph from the outfield. Offensively hits from a balanced knee-to-knee setup. Reverse toe tap with a linear lower half. Line drive hitter with a long path and fluid rhythm. 79 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.65. On the mound work from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, loose arm action. Tall and fall online delivery with a square landing. Short leg lift to balance point with good tempo throughout delivery. Repeats well. Three pitch feel for strikes. Fastball showed slight running action at 76-77 topping out at 78 mph. Curveball showed 1-7 shape with some sharpness at 66-69 mph. Changeup flashed armside run at 66-67 mph.

5. Nick Wolski, OF, Crystal Lake South, 2017
6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with a strong, athletic frame. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a long stride and good balance. Loose, athletic swing with fluid rhythm. Gap to gap hitter with a long swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 90 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.66. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top arm angle. Plays thru the ball with slower actions and a clean exchange. Threw 79 mph from the outfield.

6. Bryan Truitt, RHP/OF, Rockford Christian, 2017
6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed hitting RHP/OF with a lanky, athletic frame. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, quick arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with a square landing, athletic finish, and regular effort. Fastball sat 82-84 mph. Curveball showed inconsistent shape, mostly 11-5 at 68-71 mph. Maintained armspeed on changeup that showed slight sinking action at 76-79 mph. Defensively has a long arm action from an over the top arm slot. Accurate throws with carry at 85 mph from the outfield. Athletic actions, playing thru the ball with a clan exchange. Offensively hits from a balanced, open setup with a long stride. Line drive, gap to gap hitter with early rhythm and a level path. Showed strength thru contact with 86 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.67.

7. AJ Frisby, OF, Wilmot Union, 2018
6-foot-3, 195-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with an athletic frame. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a short stride and average balance. Gap to gap hitter with a level path and flashed a fast bat. Showed strength thru contact with 86 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.66. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Slower actions with a clean exchange. Threw 82 mph from the outfield.

8. Brad Maurer, OF, Huntley, 2017
5-foot-10, 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Defensively has a long arm action from an over the top arm slot. Accurate throws with carry. Threw 82 mph from the outfield. Plays thru the ball with athletic actions. Offensively hits form a balanced setup with a low hand set. Loads to backside with a leg lift trigger and average balance. Gap to gap hitter with a long, uphill swing path. 70 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.54.

9. Zach Teegen, OF, Marian Central Catholic, 2017
6-foot-1, 205-pound left-handed hitting outfielder with a strong frame. Offensively hits from a wide base with a low hand set. Heel turn stride with good balance. Fast bat with an uphill path and early rhythm. Showed strength thru contact with 85 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.50. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Athletic actions, playing thru the ball. Threw 82 mph from the outfield.

10. Jack Blindt, OF/3B, Loyola, 2017
5-foot-10, 170-pound left-handed hitting OF/3B. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Plays thru the ball with athletic actions and a clean exchange. Showed soft hands in the outfield. Threw 81 mph from the outfield. In the infield works from a low ¾ arm angle with quick footwork and good body control. Threw 76 mph across the infield. Offensively hits from a balanced slightly open stance with a high back elbow and short leg lift stride. Early rhythm with an uphill swing path. 77 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.59.

6-foot, 170-pound left-handed hitting outfielder. Offensively hits from a balanced setup. Drops hands on load with a leg lift stride and average balance. Short, uphill swing path. 77 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.50. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Slower actions playing thru the ball with a clean exchange. Threw 76 mph from the outfield.

Noal Brouwer, LHP/OF, Delavan-Darien, 2018
5-foot-11, 155-pound left-handed hitting LHP/)F with a lanky frame. On the mound works from a low ¾ arm angle with a long, loose arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with good balance throughout. Three pitch feel for strikes. Fastball flashed slight sinking action at 71-72 mph. Curveball showed 1-7 shape at 61-62 mph. Maintained armspeed on changeup with fading action at 66-68 mph. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a short leg lift stride. Pull hitter with a short, uphill swing path. 75 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively has a short arm action from a ¾ arm slot. In the infield had a quick release, threw 71 mph across the diamond. Threw 72 mph from the outfield.

Alec Coss, OF, Huntley, 2017
5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Plays thru the ball with slower actions and a clean exchange. Accurate throws at 77 mph from the outfield. Offensively hits from a balanced set up with a heel lift stride and good balance. Line drive hitter with a long, uphill swing path. 82 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.32.

Robert Deischer, RHP/OF, Cary Grove, 2018
6-foot-2, 145-pound right-handed hitting RHP/OF with a thin, lanky frame. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall uptempo delivery with a square landing and some effort. Fastball sat 75-76 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape with gradual action at 63-65 mph. Maintained armspeed on changeup at 66-68 mph. Defensively showed raw arm strength throwing 81 mph from the outfield with wild actions. Offensively hits from a wide base with a deep load to backside and early rhythm. 76 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.62.

Jake Deppen, OF, Huntley, 2019
5-foot-9, 130-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Offensively hits from a wide base with a slightly open setup. Short stride, doesn’t get back to even. Long, level swing path. 71 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.80. Defensively has a short arm action from a ¾ arm slot. Slower actions. Threw 64 mph from the outfield.

AJ Golembiewski, RHP/OF, Marian Central Catholic, 2018
6-foot-3, 165-pound right-handed hitting HRP/OF with a lanky frame. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, loose, quick arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with a square landing and athletic finish. Three pitch mix for strikes. Fastball sat 77-78 topping out at 79 mph. Slider showed sweeping two plane action at 66-69 mph. Maintained armspeed on changeup with slight sinking action at 71-73 mph. Defensively has a long arm action from an over the top arm slot. Plays tall with slower actions. Robert Hunt, OF/2B, Zion Benton, 2017
5-foot-7, 150-pound left-handed hitting OF/2B. Defensively in the outfield has a long arm action from an over the top arm slot. Plays thru the ball with fluid footwork and a quick, clean exchange. Threw 77 mph from the outfield. In the infield showed soft hands. Threw 73 mph across the infield. Offensively hits from a balanced open stance with a smooth load and short leg lift stride. Evan Jordan, OF/RHP, Champaign Centennial, 2018
5-foot-11, 168-pound right-handed hitting OF/LHP with some present strength. Offensively hits from a wide base, with a short stride. Line driver hitter with a level swing path and a fast bat. 78 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.32. Defensively has a short, quick arm action from an over the top arm slot. Plays thru the ball with quick footwork. Threw 81 mph from the outfield. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a closed landing and some effort. Fastball sat 72-75 mph. Curveball showed 12-6 shape with short breaking action at 64-65 mph. Changeup sat 66-68 mph.

Jack Kuiper, OF/1B, Williams Bay, 2019
5-foot-9, 145-pound right-handed hitting OF/1B. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a short toe tap stride. Gap to gap hitter with a long, uphill swing path. 68 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.90. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Quick footwork with average hands. Threw 62 mph across the infield and 64 mph from the outfield.

Jered Marrs, OF/RHP, Prairie Ridge, 2019
6-foot, 145-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP with a thin, lanky frame. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Plays thru the ball with quick footwork. Threw 75 mph from the outfield. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a leg kick stride and average balance. Late rhythm with an uphill swing path. 71 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.47. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action. Drop and drive delivery with a closed landing and a high front side. Fastball sat 70-72 mph. Slider showed no action at 65-66 mph. Changeup blended with fastball at 69 mph. Will improve with maturity.

James Owens, OF/RHP, Cary Grove, 2018
6-foot-1, 155-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Showed off raw arm strength throwing 82 mph from the outfield with some effort. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a heel lift stride and average balance. Gap to gap hitter with a long path and average bat speed. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall, slow paced delivery with a closed landing. Fastball sat 75-76 topping out at 77 mph. Curveball showed 12-6 shape at 67-68 mph. Changeup sat 64-68 mph.

Mitch Reyes, RHP/OF, Metea Valley, 2017
6-foot-2, 220-pound right-handed hitting RHP/OF with a strong frame. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a short stride and square landing. Finishes facing first base. Threw fastball for strikes down in the zone at 78-79 topping out at 81 mph. Curveball showed 11-5 shape at 65-67 mph. Changeup sat 70-73 mph. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a heel lift stride and average balance. Gap to gap hitter with an uphill path. 80 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 5.04. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Slower actions. Throws showed carry at 80 mph from the outfield.

Matthew Schulenburg, OF/C, Westminster Christian, 2018
Long and lean 6-foot-2, 160-pound plenty of room for continued physical development right-handed hitting outfielder and catcher. Ran a 4.64 home-to-first. Offensively, looseness in hands and level bat path. Tall, balanced setup, normal stride and average balance through contact. Defensively, in the outfield, long arm action from a high ¾ slot and throws clocked at 72 mph from the outfield. Also, worked out behind the plate, throws clocked from 66 mph from the crouch and ranged between 2.35-2.55.

Jacob Staples, OF/LHP, Crystal Lake Central, 2018
6-foot, 172-pound left-handed hitting OF/LHP. Offensively hits from a crouched, balanced setup with a slight toe tap stride and good balance. Line drive, pull hitter. 77 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.54. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Clean exchange with average hands. Threw 75 mph from the outfield. On the mound woks from a high ¾ arm angle with a short draw out of the glove. Tall and fall delivery with a square landing and some rhythm. Three pitch mix for strikes. Fastball showed slight running action at 65-76 mph. Slider showed 2-8 shape with gradual action at 66-67 mph. Changeup sat 70-71 mph.

Mike Tromotola, OF, Woodstock, 2018
5-foot-5, 120-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Plays thru the ball quick footwork and a clean exchange. Threw 80 mph form the outfield. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a short stride and good balance. Line drive hitter with a short, level swing path. 65 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.67.

Scott Wojcik, SS/OF, Dundee-Crown, 2017
5-foot-7, 150-pound right-handed hitting SS/OF. Offensively hits from a balanced, closed setup with a high hand set. Long, level swing path. 78 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.58. Defensively has a long arm arm action from an over the top arm angle. Defensively in the outfield plays thru the ball. Threw 76 mph from the outfield. In the infield threw 72 mph across the infield.
