Franklin, WI - A long weekend full of on-and-off weather and tons of competitive baseball all culminated on Sunday afternoon when Rake City Elite took down Prairie Gravel, 10-7, in a high octane offensive game to win the 15u championship at the ‘PBR at the Rock’ tournament in Franklin, Wisconsin.

Rake City found themselves down early after the Gravel put three runs on the board in the bottom of the first behind three hits and a hit-by-pitch, but it wouldn’t take them long to answer back. An RBI base-hit by Parker Baryl (St. Rita; 2022) and a huge one-out, two RBI double by Estevan Moreno (Montini; 2022) knotted the score at three in the top of the second -- jump-starting what would be a monster day for Moreno at the plate.

Prairie Gravel was able to add two more in the bottom of the third on a bases loaded walk and a double-play, but Estevan Moreno had yet another answer for the Gravel offense. In the top half of the fourth, Moreno hit his first homerun of the day -- a two-run shot that tied the game at five.

Refusing to go down without a fight, Gravel tacked on another couple of runs in the bottom of the fourth on a bases-loaded single by Andrew Randazzo (Maine South; 2022) to put the Gravel up 7-5. That would be all the offense they could provide on the day, as Rake City would go on to score five unanswered.

In the top half of the fifth, Cooper Ohlson (St. Rita; 2022) would hit a mammoth two-run shot to tie the game up at seven and in the top of the seventh, Rake City would add three more on Moreno’s second two-run shot of the game and an RBI double by Blake Edmonds (Hinsdale Central; 2022).

With the Gravel threatening once again in the bottom of the seventh, Moreno came on to pitch with two-outs and the bases loaded and forced a pop-out -- bringing to a close a tight back-and-forth game that eventually went Rake City’s way.

After losing their opening game, Rake City went on to win six straight, including beating a Prairie Gravel team that hadn’t lost on the weekend, in the championship.
