PBR Wisconsin Player of the Week: RHP/OF Tyler Gall
May 12, 2021
The WIAA season is in full swing, now in the middle of Week 3 action. At the end of this past weekend and at the start of this week, we’ve been accepting Player of the Week submissions from coaches in the state containing their nominations for the Week 2 POTW honors.
This week, even more than last, there were many stellar submissions – and we’ll lay them out in Friday’s Diamond Notes story – but in the meantime, we’ve selected Oak Creek senior RHP/OF Tyler Gall as our Week 2 winner.
Gall, a Bryant & Stratton JC recruit, has starred from both sides of the ball for the No. 2-ranked team in the state. Most notably, Gall has not allowed a hit in either of his starts this spring, having recorded back-to-back no-hitters, the most recent of which came on May 7 against Bradford. No pitcher in Oak Creek’s storied history has ever thrown two no-hitters in the same season, and Gall recorded his two in consecutive outings.
Last week’s Bradford outing particularly sticks out, as he struck out 14 over his seven hitless frames, and walked just two. This spring, Gall’s K’d 18 batters in 12 hitless, scoreless innings buoying what’s quickly becoming the most dominant rotation in recent memory, considering a teammate of Gall’s tossed a five-inning no-hitter himself on Tuesday.
And Gall’s production for the Knights does not stop there. His right-handed bat and foot speed energized this lineup last week, as he recorded eight hits, including a double and triple, that generated four RBIs and four runs scored, with the help of five stolen bases.
Here’s a report on Gall from the middle of last summer:
Tyler Gall RHP / OF / Oak Creek, WI / 2021From the Badger State Battle (7/5/20): 5-foot-11, 180 pounds; proportional build with some strength in lower half. One of the state’s breakout performers from the winter who has ridden that momentum to the summer. Pitched in the final day of action for Brew State Baseball Academy in an overwhelming start in which he K’d 11 and allowed just a pair of hits. Fastball sat 82-84 mph, touching 85 early, and settled into an 81-83 range as the game went on. Utilized a couple of different breaking balls; a 12/6 curve that flashed late bite that he proved to locate well, and a slider, 71-74, thrown at arm speed with more 10/4 shape. He can hit, too, a solid/simple right-handed bat from a pull-side approach, and he’s an athletic outfielder. An interesting, ranked uncommitted prospect in the state’s 2021 class.

For his efforts, Gall has been named the PBR Wisconsin Player of the Week, for the week of Monday, May 3 through Sunday, May 9. We're thankful for the POTW submissions we received from the coaches across the state. The players who garnered POTW consideration will earn a place within our Diamond Notes story, so be on the lookout for that by the end of this week.
