PBR Wisconsin Player of the Week: OF Landon Behringer

The WIAA season is in full swing, now in the middle of Week 6 action. At the end of this past weekend and at the start of this week, we’ve been accepting Player of the Week submissions from coaches in the state containing their nominations for the Week 5 POTW honors.

Inclement weather throughout all of last week limited WIAA action across the state and several teams only played one game, if any at all. Our nominations still came through, however, and we landed on North Fond du Lac junior Landon Behringer as this week’s winner.

Behringer helped lead the Orioles to three wins last week and was a major contributor to the overall offensive production of North Fond du Lac in several different ways. He had at least a part in 20 of the team’s 44 runs that the Orioles scored last week, driving in 11 runs and touching home nine times himself. Behringer put himself into scoring position rather often once he got on, swiping 10 bags without getting caught stealing. He was 10-for-13 at the plate with two doubles, a triple, and two walks.

We saw Behringer twice this winter, once at the West Milwaukee Preseason I.D. and then again at our Madison Preseason I.D. Both showings impressed our staff and earned him a bump up in the state’s Class of 2022 rankings, where he currently sits as the No. 57 overall in Wisconsin, still uncommitted. Here is a scouting report written by our staff from his performance at our West Milwaukee event, where he stood out as one of the top prospects in attendance: 

Landon Behringer OF / North Fond du Lac, WI / 2022 From 2/22/21: "Behringer has a lean, wiry 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame and he's a natural, quick-twitch athlete, and it shows in both his foot and hand speed, from the outfield to the batter's box. He started his day off by running the 60-yard dash in 6.76 seconds, the fastest of the event. Behringer backed that up by taking one of the day's cleanest rounds of batting practice, working gap-to-gap, driving six balls into the outfield at 90-plus mph – and his best travelled at an estimated 330 feet. Defensively, Behringer showed smooth, sure-handed actions that pair well with his speed up the middle, and his throws home topped at 88 mph." (2/21/21)
