PBR Wisconsin Player of the Week: C Hunter Carlson
May 24, 2023
C Hunter Carlson (2024; uncommitted) has been a force at the plate all season for Hudson, putting up video-game like numbers from the middle of the Raiders order. Entering the final week of the regular season, Carlson is hitting .463 with a 1.236 OPS. This past week of offensive play may have been his best to date, as he was only retired once in four games.
To start, in a blowout win over Eau Claire North, the former 2022 PBR Future Games Team Wisconsin representative was 2-for-2 at the plate with two doubles and two RBIs. Two days later, Carlson guided Hudson to a close 4-3 win over the Huskies, as he was the spark to get the offense going early in the matchup.
Carlson combined to go 4-for-5 against a formidable Eau Claire North team, clinching the Big Rivers Conference Championship in the process, one of the deepest groups of teams in the Badger State.
Last Friday, Carlson continued on his hot streak at the plate when the Raiders played a doubleheader against Marshfield, a Division 1 non-conference foe.
The lefty finished the day with a 5-for-5 line, enforcing himself as the main catalyst in a lineup that put up a combined 28 runs in the two games. On the week, Carlson was an impressive 9-for-10 with four doubles, a triple, a home run, and eight RBIs.
In being hit by a pitch four separate times as well, Carlson finished the week with a .938 OBP and a .900 batting average, in addition to his 1.800 SLG and eye-popping 2.737 OPS. The top catcher in the 2024 class continues to emerge as one of the top uncommitted prospects in the state, producing at an extremely high rate for his high school team before he enters the 2023 summer circuit.
