No. 5 Sun Prairie Walks Off No. 1 Janesville Craig

SUN PRAIRIE, WI – In a battle of two of the states top teams, No. 5 Sun Prairie walked off No. 1 Janesville Craig 7-6 in eight innings on Saturday afternoon.
The offense started out hot for both teams. Craig got the scoring started in the first inning when Jack Blomgren leadoff the game with a single and came around to score on an RBI single from Evan Spry. Sun Prairie answered back in the bottom half of the inning on a solo home run by Ben Hauser and an RBI single from Luke DePrey. The Cardinals had a 2-0 lead after the first.
The third inning saw both teams starters chased from the game after 2.2 innings pitched.
Craig scored five times in the top of the third, highlighted by a two run single from Caleb White. Sun Prairie was down 6-2 heading to the bottom half of the third. The Cardinals loaded the bases with two outs, before Carson Holin came thru with a two run single to pull the Cards to with two. Joe Hauser followed up the Holin single with a two run triple of his own to tie the game.
Both Jack Blomgren and Walker Jenkins came from short to pitch in relief for their teams. Jenkins worked 5 scoreless innings to pick up the win.
In the bottom of the eighth Holin got things started with a leadoff single, Joe Hauser then was hit by a pitch attempting a bunt. With two on and no one out, Walker Jenkins came up and laid a perfect bunt down the third base line to load the bases. JP Suchomel delivered a sacrifice fly, bringing home Holin with the game winning run.
