Kenosha Preseason ID: Quick Hits
February 7, 2023
On Sunday, Feb. 4th, the PBR Wisconsin team kicked off the 2023 winter showcase circuit with the annual Kenosha Preseason ID showcase at Puma Baseball Academy in Kenosha, Wis. Nearly 40 players made it out to this event, providing us with updated looks and a new list of players to follow in Wisconsin, as well as a handful of players from just over the Illinois border.
Today, we’ll be highlighting the players who stood out in Kenosha within this Quick Hits piece. Stay tuned throughout the week as we continue to break down the in-depth metrics measured at this event, with the help of our tech partners TrackMan, Blast Motion, and Vizual Edge.
CLASS OF 2023
+ RHP/SS Kaleb Zabielski (Burlington, 2023) is a two-way prospect who performed well at the showcase on Saturday. First, at the plate, Zabielski used his mechanically sound swing to spray line drives all over the field with a max EV in the high-80s. He continued his strong showing in the infield with his soft hands and quick feet to field through the ball and make accurate throws through first base. On the mound, Zabileski showcased an athletic repeatable delivery and a fastball up to 85.7 mph through areas of the zone for strikes. He also used his bigger lateral breaking curveball both in the zone for strikes and expanding below to get chase’s and swing and miss. His slider was a shorter, quicker lateral breaking ball and he flashed a potential weapon in his change-up with late depth and fade.
RHP/MIF Kaleb Zabielski (Burlington 2023; @PBR_Uncommitted) is an athletic mover on the bump.

+ OF/2B Andrew Flanagan (Oconomowoc, 2023) is listed at a strong and sturdy 5-foot-9 175-pounds. He hits with high hands and gets to a strong hitting position consistently on time. Flanagan uses his lower half well to deliver the barrel with a short compact direct path allowing him to make consistent line drive contact to all fields. Flanagan impressed with a max exit velocity of 90 mph and a distance of 295 feet. On the defense side of things, Flanagan showed quality baseball actions with his feet and displayed soft hands in the infield. His repeatable short arm action and high three-quarter arm slot with feel for the baseball allowed him to be quick and accurate with his throws to first. In the outfield, he displayed his arm in the low-80s with a quick release and accurate arm.
CLASS OF 2024
+ During our time in Kenosha RHP/OF Jack Olson (Antioch, IL, 2024) put together arguably the top performance of the day. At first glance, Olson looks to have gained some muscle mass to his athletic 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame, which seems to have helped him across many aspects of the game, starting offensively. Olson kicked off the event with a bang during the BP portion as he registered two 100+ mph EVs, with his hardest coming off at 101.6 mph and he averaged 92.8 mph. In the left-handed box, Olson works with rhythm, calmly toe-tapping into his load before delivering the barrel with controlled aggression. He then moved over to the outfield defense portion where his innate arm strength and athleticism were on full display as he topped at 89 mph on his hardest bullet from the outfield. This arm strength definitely transfers over to the mound as he recorded the highest fastball velocity of the event at 90.9 mph, which was roughly seven mph harder than he threw at this same event last year. On the mound, Olson is an athletic and clean mover, working downhill with tempo. As for his offspeeds, he was able to land all three secondaries for strikes, the first being a big two-plane breaking curveball for strikes. He also was able to spin in a handful of quality sliders that featured more horizontal movement than the curveball and with more velocity. His final offering to round out his four-pitch mix was a changeup that was sold well and featured late run/fade.
On the bump, OF/RHP Jack Olson (Antioch 2024; @PBRIllinois) was equally impressive during his bullpen.

+ RHP/OF Marshall Loch (Union Grove, 2024) was a name that our staff was very excited to get an updated look at after multiple looks at him throughout the summer circuit and he definitely did not disappoint. Standing at an ultra-athletic 6-foot-2, 176-pounds Loch registered some of the day's best metrics during athletic testing as he recorded an event high 31 inch vertical, and a jump power of 1779, which is another event best. Offensively, Loch works from a wider setup with relaxed hands before gathering back, creating separation and directly impacting the ball, creating a max EV of 98.2 mph. Loch really caught our attention during his ‘pen, where he ran his fastball up to 88.2 mph with some major ride and carry (19.6 max IVB) from his higher ¾ slot. He also spun in a curveball with sharp two-plane break for strikes that flashed some out pitch potential. He rounded out his ‘pen with an intentful changeup with late fade and depth. After this performance in Kenosha it seems the Loch is even more of a name-to-know in the states ‘24 class and is certainly someone our staff will keep close tabs on as he continues his prep career.
OF/RHP Marshall Loch (@ughsbaseball, 2024) showed well at the #KenoshaID. Impressive athlete that has added strength since our last look.

+ RHP/OF Landon Dessart (Union Grove, 2024) showcased himself as a legitimate two-way prospect at the event on Saturday. Dessart stands 6-foot-1, 170-pounds with more fill and strength coming to his athletic frame. He hits with a solid base and slight crouch set up with relaxed hands and gets himself into a strong hitting position consistently on time. He has a short compact flat bat path which allowed him to backspin line drives to both gaps. He registered the third-highest EV of the day at 95.3 mph and drove a ball 319 feet in the air. He also showcased a strong throwing arm during the defensive portion of the event topping out at 89 mph and this arm strength transferred over to the mound nicely. Dessart shined brightly during his ‘pen, with an athletic and repeatable delivery. He showed a consistent ability to drive the fastball through spots topping out at 85.5 mph and showcased a couple of legitimate secondary weapons with his sharp breaking slider and curveball. He’s also gaining feel for a change up which gives him a four-pitch mix to allow him to profile as a starting pitcher. While we did expect a lot from Dessart, his performance in Kenosha he may have even exceeded our expectations and is certainly someone to follow as he continues his prep career.
Intriguing look at RHP Landon Dessart (@ughsbaseball, 2024). 4-pitch mix with the ability to land his secondaries for strikes.

Plenty of projection at 6foot-1, 170-lbs.#KenoshaID pic.twitter.com/Bt3hltyeVd
+ RHP/INF Dylan Feldkamp (Antioch, IL, 2024) was also responsible for a quality two-way performance during our time at Puma Baseball Academy. Listed at a long and projectable 6-foot-2, 193-pounds Feldkamp started his day with a quality round of BP, setting up with rhythm and creates separation to lift the ball up-the-middle and to the pull-side, topping at 93.5 mph on his hardest hit ball. On the mound, Feldkamp features clean repeatable mechanics and from his ¾ slot, he ran his fastball up to 84 mph, with not a single pitch dipping below 83 mph. For his offspeeds, Feldkamp spun in a big 11/5 breaking ball that has some swing-and-miss potential and he also spun in a slider with big horizontal movement that plays well off of his fastball.
+ Last year at this same event MIF Joseph Rodriguez (Westosha Central, 2024) impressed our staff with his advanced defensive abilities for his age and standing at 5-foot-5, 135-pounds we hoped that he was a late bloomer physically and late bloomer he was. On Saturday, Rodriguez showed up roughly four inches taller than last year and added on some strength to his still lanky 5-foot-9, 140-pound frame. Despite this growth spurt, Rodriguez still possesses a refined defensive skillset as he is easily able to move from side-to-side on the infield dirt and is able to make accurate throws from a number of different arm angles. Offensively, the lefty profiles as a top of the order type player with his ability to hit low liners to the entire field, and his hardest hit ball registered at 86 mph.
+ 1B Joseph Bline (Case, 2024) is a big physical presence on the field. He’s listed at 6-feet, 200-pounds with thickness/strength throughout and despite this frame, he registered the best 30-yard dash time at 3.92. Bline impressed in batting practice with a direct path and quick hands showcasing the ability to impact the ball especially to the middle of the field and to the pull side. Bline had the sixth-best max EV at the event, at 93.3 mph and his farthest hit ball registered at 310 ft. Bline also displayed feel around the bag at first making him an interesting power hitting first-base prospect to follow this spring.
+ SS/RHP Aben Beinlich (Burlington, 2024) is an athletic player that stands at 5-foot-11, 175 pounds. During his round of batting practice Beinlich was on the barrel often, producing a max EV as high as 92 mph and a max carry distance of 318 feet. In the defensive portion of the showcase Beinlich used his quick feet to show off some range and coupled it with an accurate arm that topped out at 82 mph from across the diamond. During his ‘pen Beinlich showed off a four-pitch mix that features a fastball that topped at 84.5 mph, a changeup that averaged 15.2 inches of run, and two breaking balls, both with considerable depth.
+ C Hayden Jamison (Union Grove, 2024) is listed at a strong 5-foot-11, 195-pounds. Jamison impressed during his round of BP with a swing geared to drive the ball in the air, especially to the pull-side, registering a max carry distance of 329 feet and a max EV of 93.4 MPH. During catcher defense he recorded the quickest pop-times of the day at 2.00-2.09.
+ C Mason Mitacek (Westosha Central, 2024) is a 6-foot-2,170-pound athlete with some fill left in his frame. Mitacek gets into a strong hitting position and has a direct path through the ball barrelling multiple line drives through gaps which helped him register a max EV 89.7 mph. Behind the plate, he has a quick transfer and quick feet and had the second best pop time of the day at 2.01. He then showcased his versatility by showing well in the infield with soft hands and a strong and accurate arm maxing out at 85 mph across the infield.
+ OF/RHP Cody Rakoncay (Grayslake North,IL, 2024) is a high waisted 6-foot-2, 160-pounds 2 way player with upside. He showed the ability to drive the ball to all fields registering a max EV of 90 with a max carry distance of 329 feet. On defense Rakoncay’s arm worked at 80 MPH from the outfield. On the mound Rakoncay showcased a three-pitch mix featuring a fastball that topped out at 81 with feel for the zone, and a tight breaking curveball with 10/4 shape, and a developing slider.
CLASS OF 2025
+ CIF Macay Wagner (Slinger, 2025) stands a projectable 6-foot-2, 200-pounds with more strength coming. He showed off his easy under control swing through the baseball, registering a max EV in the low 90s with a max carry distance of 315 feet. The ease of operation in which he delivered the barrel was what stood out during the hitting portion of the event. Wagner showcased impressive actions in the infield with rhythmic feet, soft hands and an accurate arm up to 83 mph, giving him the ability to stick at the hot corner in the future. Wagner definitely put himself firmly on the map as a name to follow in the Badger State’s 2025 class.
CIF Macay Wagner (@SlingerBaseball, 2025) hosts an XL frame with present strength.

+ C/RHP Foster Stockton (Culver Academy, IN, 2025) impressed all day long with his quick arm, starting behind the plate where he recorded pop-time lows of 2.08. His quick arm transferred over to the mound where he ran his fastball up to 85.3 mph from some raw mechanics. He also spun in a quality curveball with two-plane break, in and below the zone.
+ RHP/OF Brody Schulte (Westosha Central, 2025) stands at an ultra-projectable 6-foot-5, 180-pounds with ample room to add mass on. While it is tough to see Schulte profile anywhere else but on the mound, he did register a max EV of 86.2 mph during his round of BP, respectively. On the mound Schulte uses his long levers to work downhill, topping out at 82.9 mph on his hardest bullet to the plate. He also features two different breaking balls, and a changeup, all of which he could land for strikes.
+ INF/OF AJ Neargarder (Zion Benton, IL, 2025) is listed at 5-foot-7, 130-pounds. Neargarder is a quick twitch mover at the plate and showcased the ability to drive the ball through the middle of the field and the pull side gap. Defensively, Neargardner is an athletic mover on the infield with a quick first step and pairs it with clean hands that can make plays. While in the outfield he works through the ball and topped at 82 mph on his hardest throw home. Also ran his fastball up 79.4 mph with feel to spin a breaking ball that averaged 2,271 rpm, too.
+ C/RHP Nathan Urban (Indian Trail, 2025) is listed at a projectable 6-foot-1, 195-pounds and he took a clean round of BP, utilizing a repeatable, athletic swing. Behind the plate, he is an athletic mover and recorded pop times as low as 2.10.
CLASS OF 2026
+ INF/RHP London Stanley (Union Grove, 2026) was one of the few freshman in attendance on Saturday and made for a good look in his PBR event debut. Standing at a projectable 6-foot-3, 175-pounds, Stanley took a clean round of BP, utilizing flat swing to drive line-drives back up-the-middle. On the mound he syncs up his long levers well and put together a raw ‘pen to finish off his day.
