By Drew Locascio
Illinois Scouting Director
We began rolling out the Class of 2017 Showcase analysis this week and today we take a look at the top infielders from the event. A number of the infielders will likely find their way into the updated 2017 rankings that are right around the corner. Infielders were led by right-handed hitting 3B Gavin Lovesky (Lockport HS) who took an eye opening round of batting practice. Lovesky has a chance to be an impact bat at the next level, with power potential and a 96 mph exit velocity, the best of the event.
Versatile right-handed hitting 3B/OF Easton Bertrand (Manteno HS) who was ranked the top outfielder from the event made a strong case to also be the top infielder. Bertrand showed equally as well in the infield as he did in the outfield. He was clocked at 86 mph across the diamond, moved well and flashed soft hands on the infield.
