This Sunday marks the 15th annual Super 60 showcase hosted by Prep Baseball Report. The event has become the most heavily scouted preseason event for potential draft picks in the Midwest. The primary purpose of the Super 60 is to give professional area scouts and crosscheckers a head start on the high school season.
Wisconsin Super 60 History
Since 2012 Wisconsin has had 24 players participate in the Super 60. Last year was a record setting year for the Badger State with ten participants including Dodgers first round pick SS Gavin Lux (Indian Trail) and Twins second round pick C Ben Rortvedt (Verona). Tremper's 3B Justin Lavey (39th round, White Sox) and Arrowhead's RHP Nate Brown (40th round, Yankees) were the two other players drafted from last years Super 60 Wisconsin Class.
Since PBR Wisconsin launched in the fall of 2012 all but one Wisconsin high school draft has attended the Super 60. Prior to last year three Wisconsin high school prospects were drafted starting with Nathan Mikolas (Bradford, 2012) was taken in the 3rd round by the New York Yankees and is currently in the Yankees minor league system. Dan Jansen (Appleton West, 2013) was taken in the 16th round by the Blue Jays and participated in the Arizona Fall League this past year. Jeren Kendall (Holmen, 2014) was taken in the 30th round by the Boston Red Sox, but instead chose to honor his commitment to Vanderbilt. Kendall had a big summer with the USA Collegiate National Team and is currently ranked No. 2 in MLB Pipeline’s Top 50 Draft prospects for 2017.
Last year Gavin Lux had a stand out performance at the event showing he was one of the best middle infield prospects in the country. After some mechanical fixes at the plate he showed off pull side power and carried his big performance into the spring, and was eventually taken in the first round by the Dodgers.

Ben Rortvedt took one of the better rounds of batting practice of the event peppering line drives off the back wall. He showed improved defensive work behind the plate and ended up being taken by the Minnesota Twins in the second round.

2017 Wisconsin Super 60 Participants
This year's crop of Badger State prospects hoping to hear their name called in June is led by No. 1 ranked senior Augie Mihlbauer (Mukwonago), a TCU commit with a live left-handed arm. Ben Dragani (Catholic Memorial) is also in the mix of left-handed arms to keep an eye on. Dragani is poised to be a big breakout candidate this year. Along with Dragani, scouts could also be wowed by the physical 6-foot-2, 220-pound Zach Clayton. Clayton is a premium three-sport athlete who stays under the radar in the fall while playing football and is still dropping 20 points a game on the hardwood.
Wisconsin holds one card that no other state can play at this year's event, bringing the only 2018 prospect to the Super 60 in Jarred Kelenic (Waukesha West). Kelenic is the regarded as one of the top 2018 prospects in the country and is a possible first round selection in the 2018 amateur draft. Kelenic has already been of high interest to national crosscheckers this past summer.
